Just curious because I don't know from working at a one type only airline, how long are you seat locked before bidding a different equipment?

FYI, if you start as a 767I FO and get a 767D bid later, they can still use you for international trips on reserve. I don't know how it would work for new hires (i.e. on probation), but the new domestic guy from international could have their INT qualification removed and only fly domestic trips. I have no idea if some gung-ho "weasel" Chief wouldn't think you are dedicated enough if requesting that. I know 2 of them that wouldn't care.

They also have periodic TDY's from domestic to international. With the INT Qual, on could get involuntary assigned for the bid month. Wouldn't be much difference on reserve for a DOM guy with a INT QUAL since he covers both sides anyways. They also use INT FO's for DOM on a regular basis.

Personally, after flying both sides as FO on reserve, I'd pick international for the variety. You'll be sucking wind at 4am on both sides at times. With movement, a line on the INT might come sooner and the trading ability is easier in the much larger bid status.

Don't know the new contract, 1 year? 18 months?, but they just gave 4 guys hired earlier in the year A320 FO coming from the S80 and the 767.

All depends how "fat" they are in each position. Varies from month to month.

Two year lockin. Six months(?) for newhires. Company can release newhires in the six month window.

You can break lockins for new equipment in a base. First 787 awards yesterday. Anyone who incurred a lockin in before the DFW 787 bid was announced (two months ago?) could break their existing lockin and get the 787 award.

First Captain award can be awarded six months after incurring a previous lockin.

No carry-over. IE upgrading six months into a 2 yr FO upgrade the CA upgrade is 2 yrs and not 3.5 yrs (2 yrs CA + remainder of FO lock-in).

Would you mind posting the hire date of the junior Captain and junior FO that was awarded the 787?

Went pretty senior.. As I recall jr capt around 512 for capt and 5584 for jr f/o

Where can I go see who was awarded the 787? I checked AA Pilots and only see vacancy awards for 1 August.
