Don't worry because I'm in your same situation along with another guy I know. Looks like we just have to sit tight until they start F2F interviews again.
In the meantime DAL stepped up their hiring to 16/day starting today. Hopefully that might encourage AA to start the F2F interviews earlier than Jan. Fingers crossed.

Wow....16/day would mean 5,840 pilots hired in a year!

Let me rephrase that. My friend who got hired last weekend
at DAL said they will INTERVIEW 16/day not including weekends. I don't know if that is 5 days a week or what, just passing the words.

Another friend in an upcoming class at DAL said they have around 75 in it.
My numbers may not be concrete but my point is they have the throttles pushed full fwd.
I'm just hoping that the Holiday break and tng backup at AA doesn't last until the new year. However, I've been waiting years for an interview opportunity so a few more months wont kill me. Heck I could still be waiting an additional few more years. Never know....

DAL pilots that interviewed in the fall of 2013 waited 6 months in the pool to start class for the same reason that AA poolies are waiting now, training is backed up. Theyre going to eventually get the training ramped up at AA, but it definitely takes time. AA hiring will be much slower anyway now that PBS is going to be implemented, getting more flying out of the pilots on property. Also keep in mind staffing projections are hugely dependent on the remaining recalls, of which there are still over 1,000 pilots with recall rights until 2016. I think when the JCBA is signed you may see up to 90 percent of those pilots come back, which would mean AA is going about this the right way by metering their hiring in the meantime.

90 percent sounds really high to me. Every furloughed AA pilot I know has gone somewhere else (SWA/UPS/etc.) and scooted up that senioirty list. None of them are planning on accepting recall.

I recently spoke to a JetBlue capt and AA furloughee and he is struggling with his decision. I think partly because he doesn't know, but speculates at the possibility of AA absorbing JB at some future point. Anyway, he hasn't written off the recall, but I agree, 90% might be high.

For the sake of new hiring we all hope the number of recalls is much much lower, but I guess you have to go with a conservative number in order to avoid lofty expectations. I suspect every JetBlue CA will come back, just as they did when they had to return to DAL. Some SWA pilots, not all, will come back. Many others are scattered at ACMI carriers, overseas carriers, or military that will probably come back for QOL. As for UPS and FDX folks, those pilots will probably stay put. I guess its hard to say without knowing how many furloughees are where...

PBS shouldn't impact hiring that much. Talking with a union guy and he said AA guys are flying more than DL and UA guys already and they expect the number to stay the same or reduce slightly towards DL/UA's numbers. The vast majority of guys pick up any time dropped due to month to month change-over conflicts.
