Strange number. Fifty per month except for one month???
Probably hard to predict the exact number even if its published. There's are still 1000 furloughed pilots with recall rights til spring 2016. Most likely staffing estimates are a complete guess until recalls are done.

A lot of furloughs have been bypassing because they would come back at first year pay. If the pay package passes they will come back at 3rd year pay. Some furloughs got on with UAL (Continental), or Delta, FedEx or Southwest years ago and are not coming back. Others are captains at regionals and will probably wait until the last minute to come back.

The number of folks that may come back is probably enough to offset an entire years worth of hiring. I think the majority of JetBlue pilots will come back. There are rumors of some southwest pilots coming back. Plus a bunch at Kalitta, Atlas, Southern, etc that will likely all come back. Probably some foreign carriers like Emirates and Etihad as well.

I think if this deal passes most will come back. Those that won't will be the ones that got on with places like Delta, Continental and FedEx a long time ago and have good seniority. There might be a few really senior jetBlue guys that don't come back. There are also quite a few military guys that have been on orders just waiting until the time is right.

Not having a minimum calendar day makes for some really low paying trips. I imagine a lot of those returning will wait until they can avoid the 11 hour 3-day trips.

They're everywhere, even on the 91/135 side of things. They are holding out to the last possible moment. It's easy to defer or tell people you are not going back until the time comes to take it or leave it.

I think a lot of them are waiting to see if they'll be better off where they are now versus coming back to AA. Some of those guys went to JetBlue and are fairly senior there now. Maybe to them losing seniority just to make more money doesn't make sense? There's a million reasons why someone would decide to not come back versus come back. In reality I think a substantial number of those who deferred will not come back.
