The Bus is awesome, don't get me wrong. However, there's a huge part of me that wants to fly an MD-80.
Hope you get to!!

For the AA guys who are concerned about the training department power struggle, don't be. The US training department is superb, and well deserves its reputation as the envy of the industry. AA also has an excellent department and reputation, and as long as whatever mix of folks takes over can work well together, I think we'll all be okay. I'm sure most of us on both sides would prefer to retain our own side's "philosophy" for comfort's sake, but we shall see. I like the US methodology ... flows, short checklists, etc. ... over the AA method with no flows, more thorough checklists, and the like. But, like the rest of us, I suppose I'll do whatever the people who sign the paychecks tell me to do.

Sorry in advance for the stupid question. Does AA cover the hotel cost during new hire training?

US does......I would imagine AA does......

I might be wrong, but when West was taking new hires, wasn't their deal. after indoc you had to find your own place or something? So they only paid a week of hotels.....Dunno a Westie could tell you that.

Maybe they've moved up to the big leagues and cover that expense now....

Yes. Stay at a couple of hotels near by. Pros and cons to each. Shuttle service provided.

Re: no flows at AA. Do they teach/show flows? Uh.... not by that name. Do they teach A, B, C, then D? Yes. FO post start does 7 things without saying a word. Then refers to checklist, silently, to verify accomplishment.
