How many hours did you have again? And how many years did you go to job fairs? I'm sorry but it is extremely rare to get hired on with only 4k hours.

I think riverside makes a good point. There will always be exceptions to the rule and it never hurts to try even when the stats are against you BUT you can't ignore the reality of who is being hired and with what quals. Back in the day (and I mean way back) there was very little to go on prior to applying and then interviewing. I was the exception and I still don't know why while others far more qualified weren't. And while there is much more opportunity now than back in the eighties I think there is far less of a chance of being an exception.
Even during that B scale hiring cycle the numbers were nowhere near as great as they are now and the process has become far less personalized with "new" technology. Thats my take on it FWIW. Good luck to all!

I personally know two pilots hired by AA sub 30, no TPIC, minimal 121 time, no masters, no internship. But they’re both females.

Gender aside,

Is AA really serious about this 40% military thing? Really sucks for us civilian guys working our asses off to get hired somewhere. Are they really gonna be able to find 400 military pilots when everyone else who is hiring prefers them over civilians too?

Not to be overly optimistic here, but I think you just answered your own question. 400 available military pilots (that's what, 4-5 months of newhire classes at DL, +/- a few?) and the Big 3, Southwest, FedEx and even UPS hiring? AA may WANT to hire only mil pilots outside of flow, but unless the military is supplying enough pilots to cover OTS spots for the next few years, I really have to believe civilian non-W/O RJ guys are not down and out for the count at AA. Take it for what it's worth, but I talked to an AA instructor a few weeks ago who said they're already starting to see less mil pilots in class over there.

My estimate is there are about 1,000 military that come out each year. Unless something changes, that is the quantity the 6 majors have to fight over. How much of that pie will AA be able to hire? 400? Well good luck at trying to do that.

I saw in another thread the number of military pilots separating and becoming available in the civ workforce is upwards of 2500/yr.

That seems like a very high number so idk if I believe that.

Regardless i'd be very curious to know what the actual average is.
