Not an argument worth having. You/we have no control over who they hire.
Similar to military vs civilian there’s no right/wrong answer.
The facts are if you are an off the street hire it’s hard to get hired and if you are on off the street civilian hire you ain’t getting hired period.

I think the OTS civilian hiring should really kick in soon. They can’t afford to lose anywhere near enough flows to cover anticipated demand this year.

I think many of you are way out of touch with what is going on at the WOs. There is no shortage of pilots willing to fly for regionals with competitive pay and career progression. The career progression part is in place and getting better for WO pilots. The pay is next. Pretty soon it will be a substantial paycut for someone on WO CA pay to flow to AA for the first year. The WOs will eventually make up almost 40 slots of every newhire class at AA. That leaves about 20%-25% for off the street.

Civilian OTS is probably 10% +/- of the total hiring.
One of the Big 3 hired 92% of their new hires from 121 operators. That was 2%, or more, of their hiring from each company. 1% and less was 26% companies that supplied 8% of their new hires. They didn’t mention how many of that 8% were, or weren’t, 121/135/91.
I think another Big 3 airline at one point said 86% of their new hires had 121 time.
So if you’re civilian with no 121 time you might be in s very small pool.

These numbers mean squat.
The only number that matters is the one they give you when you get hired.
I’ll never understand why so many pilots try and talk other pilots out of even trying to get hired. Reminds me of a guy who used to walk around the lounge at my former employer with his list of reasons why airline X wouldn’t hire people who had too many hours, or upgraded too long ago, or blah and blah and such and so..... Literally every airline you can think of, he had some rationale for why no one was gonna get hired anywhere. We pretty much ALL got hired elsewhere.
