“As far as working more, min days off is probably a good general place to look. Lineholders must have minimum 10 days off, reserves must have 12-13 (depending on 30/31 day month)”
Just responding to the guy saying the contract at AA was so much worse...From the outside looking in, it doesnt seem so bad. I realize you can look at min days off for lineholders but is that applicable? The junior lineholders at UAL are getting 15 days off when the contract min is 12. Hard to believe junior AA lineholders are only getting 10 days off a month but if you say so.

Not my fight anymore, but I’ll tell you why this should matter to a new hire. It matters because the new hire’s future career is tied to a union that won’t or can’t look out for it’s most vulnerable members. It’s sad that anyone has to explain this, but really indicative of the type of union culture that exists at AA. LOS would have meant very little to me had I returnd last year, and yet it was a huge negative, if only for what it represented.

He didn’t say junior lineholders only get 10 days off a month. The minimum is 10.

The union negotiators decided to only give two years of pay. It's quite possible the reason they did is because they didn't want to give up more in the rest of the contract with an unknown number of guys coming back. I'm sure the company probably priced it based on all furloughees returning and the cost in other areas was probably significantly higher than true costs.
That being said at what point do you, as the company, put your foot down and say "OK guys this was the deal, we're done."? Guys keep coming and whining and groveling for more. At some point you need to draw the line. What will happen in 2020, will we not negotiate unless we get full LOS for all those guys? What is the plan B?

Sorry but your response is nothing but union ignorance. You want to fight for an ideal at the expense of substance and measurable gains. Sorry but I can’t take an ideal to the bank and an ideal doesn’t get me an extra day off. Add to that the ridiculous notion that any back pay should be paid at current rates to thes 1400 pilots. This whole thing is a joke. And your take on it is the manifestation of an APA brainwash. Sorry for the thread high jack.
So you want to get an extra day off for screwing the bottom guys. You are the exact example of the "me first" people here. How can you EVER expect the group to be unified if we treat each other like we do?
The ancestory worship needs to stop, just because someone has been on property longer doesn't mean they should get the lions share of the benefits. The more our fates are linked the more unified we will be.

Well it shows the union isn't really a union and doesn't care about its furloughed members which is completely true. It's indicative of the "me first" mentality. For a true union look at the UPS rank and file. They took monthly pay hits across the board to keep people on property.

Taking from a small group and giving to the whole sounds logical but what happens when they come for you? Why not cut 190 pay in half and give the rest of us raise? Only a couple hundred guys. Should easily pass. Ok next let's remove G3 pay and put it all into G2 while giving G2 a slight increase.

Well I don't have a dog in this as it doesn't effect me and I can see the arguments made for each side. It all boils down to those in the union who drove the negotiations not wanting to give full pay to our furloughed guys like DL and UA did. And now they are essentially blaming the company for not doing it when it was them who chose how to divvy up the chips.
