Friend of mine went to the job fair last week and was asked how old he was (39, civ, 121, 767, bla bla bla). Was told that 1/2 the guys at the fair were not qualified and that he should get a call in a few rounds, whatever that means.

I went to the fair in MIA and talked to the HR lady, and that's pretty much what she said. The first round of the process is handled by a computer and is 100% "rack and stack" (her term) according the filter criteria they set. She didn't let on what those criteria are.

And for those wondering, I haven't heard anything. But it's only been 5 days.

Had a friend in ground school confirm that as well. Hopefully aquiring more letters will help the points. I'm sure it cant hurt. Life goes on...

Who told him? It's funny that the alleged source knew what the criteria is because anyone who knows isn't talking.

Guys I talked with said the group was very impressive. AE CA with 8000+ hrs TT said the qualification of the group as a whole was intimidating.

And it appears that three guys with less than 3000TT have gotten hired. Fifty percent at the job fair did not have less than 3000TT.

That would be understandable IF AA hadn't hired in the past 12 yrs.

There are a lot of highly qualified candidates out there (that have international PIC). I feel those individuals should get interviews *before* the guys with 3000 hrs are called (or guys with no PIC).

Here's another requirement for getting hired; willingness to be available for short call in base. A few probationary guys got sh!t canned for multiple out-of-base infractions. Talk about f'ing stupid! You make it all the way to the biggest airline in the world and get fired for trying to do short call from home in Columbus Ohio (after getting a few warnings too!) Good job guys! Can't imagine where they'll land.
