The MIA job fair? Blue did you go to that? I think he went to a regional job fair and not the one with AA a few weeks ago.

No Miami job fair for me, I went to the Vegas regional/spirit job fair. never met AA at a fair before. I was like one of 8 guys who were there for the regional airlines. everybody else was there for Spirit. And the invite was for the video interview, you do that first and then if you pass you get to DFW. I will update when I get it done.

Just got back from DFW. Amazing experience! Great folks down there. I got the impression they really want to hire all 20 of us. All had mil background except 4 or so. All the candidates were great and had solid qualifications. Looking forward to hearing the good news hopefully!

Things are busy down there so good luck to those still waiting it out.

Last class breakdown that happened while there:

10 A320 NYC / 10 M80 DFW/ and the rest were 767 MIA

Does AA base class seniority on age, or do they use some other method? Does anyone know how those initial assignments broke out in the class by seniority? Did all the most senior take the 767 for the pay?

Just curious.

my buddy took airbus new York, no brainer since the c17 reserve gig is in NJ. My guess is that unless AA hired all east coasters (they did not), DFW went senior. MIA 767 is actually the worst schedule on rsv, hearing the horror stories of my buddies who did it would keep most people away, so it probably went down to who lives where. In one class MIA could go more senior than NY, but in another NY could go more senior than MIA based on whos commuting where

Assignments are done by age, oldest = most senior.

This message brought to you by the most junior, lower-than-whale-dung, rock bottom guy in his new hire class. (we all got Mia 727 F/E anyway so didn't matter .)

Congrats to y'all who have gotten the call! You're joining at a great time.

Edit: Miami ain't so bad. You'll be fluent in Spanish and able to spit out "Eh Q Me Mamacita pa' dónde va?" in no time at all.

Probationary pay is the same.

If newhires are getting the 767 guys senior to them can too. So bidding MIA 767 or any equipment is an option, every month, if it's not available in your newhire class drop.

Guys have gotten second assignments before they even started their first training class - 'you've been awarded XXX in YYY. Your original training date for the ABC has been cancelled. We will notify you of your new training dates for the XXX in a couple of days.'

Is there not a seat lock on your first piece of equipment or does it start when you start ground school?

There is no 'seat lock'. There is (was?) a 6 month lock that prevents the company from bouncing you around. That's the way it was in the past.

I believe they allow you to bid out but I believe they can withhold you for 6 months. I'm less certain of the accuracy of this.

I do know recalless/flows have changed bid statuses before 6 months. The first 824 came over in Dec and newhires this month. I'm not sure if any of them have been awarded new base/equipment bids for the Feb or March job run.
