It's luck, an algorithm, both, who knows? As always, good luck to everybody.
Agreed, and its confirmed that people who attended FAPA got the call. Around 1,000 went to FAPA, and theyre interviewing what, 20 a week? So just to get through qualified job fair attendees (that they liked) would take several months. Last year, when UAL was the only airline hiring, they had 2,500 people wait in line at WIA. This year I expect AA to have that number plus more, way more. So it will help, but we still have to be patient. I'd be thrilled to get the call 6 months from now.

Just be patient. I've said it before, if you haven't gotten a TBNT, you're good. It may take a while, but they will get to you. That's what my boss has told me.
Good point that patience is key, and the computer in fact does the selection. But like any computer, it can be manually overridden. And it has been. Take a look at the first 40 that were hired. I know around 10 guys hired so far (and 1 guy who busted his interview) and everyone had very very good connections, or were JetBlue. Incidentally I think JetBlue is one of the things that triggers that computer to put you at the top of the stack. Don't ask me why, look at the numbers of the guys in class. Of the non-flows, theres a significant JetBlue presence.

Overridden? Maybe but no guarantee. TMcG was. Others? UNK. Mgt said they're trying to stay away from the previous system of top down influence. I know a guy with fighter time, 121 time, 2-3 Chief Pilot recs, several more senior CA recs, and he hasn't heard boo.

FAPA MIA? 600-700. Lots of very qualified guys. Presenter explained the process. "You'll get a call from being here" was specifically shot down. If they called 80% of the participants it would take almost two years to call everyone at the current hiring pace.

Supposedly half of the last class of 'off the street' guys were from JB. Might be something going on there.

Lots of brand new, as in fleet type, Airbuses on the way. Might be good to get some experienced dudes with the added benefit of hosing a competitor?

Slice is correct.

The only key is to have patience and not to try to make something of nothing. Just update, try to stand out in your application and enjoy life in the mean time… the email will come.

Best and most accurate advice on here. I've spoke to higher ups directly too, and was told the same exact thing.

All one can do it patiently wait, enjoy life and keep smiling! (and the occasional bourbon of course) ….

If 4K applicants did not receive a TBNT, it would take years and years to go through the list. Also, are you locked into the awaiting call list or if future applicants scores higher on whatever formula they have, those people will continue to push you down. A lot to consider

So with everyone in the last class going to Dallas MD80, is this a trend? So it's possible to not hold LGA? If it's the case, how often are system bids? I thought LGA and MIA are the junior bases. Or is this changing?

That sure threw everybody for a loop. DFW is not a normal new hire assignment but it just goes to show that, when the company is in hiring/growth mode, pretty much anything goes: they will stick new hires where there are holes in manning. DFW 80 has had staffing issues recently, hence the assignments. Yes, typically Mia and LGA go junior and that's what we'll mostly see in new hire classes...but that doesn't preclude the occasional senior base either. Manning issues rise and fall month by month so we might see two or three straight months of mia/LGA, followed by a month of DFW, followed by back to mia...you get the point.

Those who got the -80 in DFW, you guys are lucky dogs! You just don't realize it yet. Don't let any of the old senior farts tell you otherwise: the -80 is a badge of honor and I cherish my 7 years on it.

I live in Las Colinas and getting ready to relocate to Coppell...either way I'm 10 minutes away from any terminal. I've had so much of my flying canxd by Eagle this winter so it's nice to drive home when that happens. I would kill to be home based even on the -80.
