Just caught up on the thread. 1 Oct interviewee that just received a class date for 21 Jun. Got a call today that I'll be LUS side. Stoked to be starting after 8 months. Kinda blown away they haven't implemented the new pay scale yet? I'm sure backpay is out of the question?

I'm a recent newhire on the LUS side (May 19 class), and although I'm thrilled to be here, it has been a frustrating experience. First we had 3 days in Dallas combined with LAA guys where they just talked about the LAA way of doing things. When we asked if LUS was different, they told us we'd learn more in PHX (basic indoc). Then we got to PHX and the instructors were primarily US West and didn't really know anything about how the contract implementation was going. Now I'm in CLT for aircraft training and the instructors, although really nice guys who know the airplane, have very little knowledge about what's happening in the "real world".
A simple question like "when are we allowed to bid a line" has not been answered confidently by anyone so far. It's frustrating, but hopefully temporary.
My best advice is to ask the same question to multiple people and if you get the same answer from all of them, then hopefully you're ok. I've been getting a lot of bad info even from management and apparently needed to get a second or third opinion before trusting them. It's not malicious or anything...there are just several sets of rules with all of them changing rapidly and most people's info is outdated.
As someone else mentioned, there are a lot of benefits to being on the LUS side, so even as a Dallas-area resident, I'm fine with the LUS side and E190 for now. Just be ready to have difficulty getting straight answers for a while.

As far as bidding, your check airman should show you how to do it or you can go into your chief pilots office and they will teach you.
Nothing you brought up is important til after you hit the line. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me or any of the airways guys on here, we would all be more than happy to help.

Those of us on the line don't know how contract implentation is going so don't worry.

Agreed above. I'm a January hire so if you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll do what I can. I'm still on short call out of PHL so I can try to help you with that stuff too if needed. As far as for now, just worry about training. CATCREW will become second nature quite quickly.

Plus- learn catcrew basics. How to bid, check reserves and open time. Reserve lines and blocks are posted on wings/workgroups/flight ops/pilot lines (east). Catcrew is archaic and going away but you'll need to learn it. Sorry. Been around a few years and felt the exact same way you do. You'll get it fast. Welcome aboard!
