It was Monday. What was crazy was we were loaded up on another aircraft ready to push. We were told to deplane that they needed the aircraft to go to San Juan. The San Juan flight was also told to deplane. The San Juan flight got on our original aircraft and we boarded their original aircraft that had the broken seat backs missing seats and taped up interior.

From previous crew news Parker said we ignored these customers and let Spirit and Frontier get a good toe hold in DFW and Chicago. When they are there they will siphon off other customers. I worked for a company that ran from competition at every turn. I'm glad to see us fight.

That sucks. As you know it could have been lots of factors. Aircraft not equipped for overwater, crew not qualified, trying not to cancel a flight, etc. hope it's better for tou next time.

What airline do you fly that has spare airframes if a seat is MEL'd?

The way that Spirit packs them in, if we are remotely cost competitive with them, we should get some of those passengers. I'm not a commuter so I (thankfully) don't have a lot of experience jumping on other airlines, but I needed to get to NYC for non work related business as early as possible and they had the earliest flight from ORD. I got to my seat and was like, 'Seriously? There's THIS much legroom?' I'm 6 feet tall and could barely get my knees in the row. I don't know how people make it through 3-4 hour flights on them.

But seriously....You guys are always welcome to JS on us. We do strive hard to always get you onboard and the best possible seat. That's the culture around here...no pilot left behind, ever.
Shalom!

Seems a shame that we are back trying to be all things to all people. I thought we had reached something of an equilibrium in the industry whereby the major carriers would be the full service airlines for people willing to pay the actual cost of the product, and the LCC's would take care of the rest. Having all these different service levels on one aircraft doesn't really work, does it? I guess the lessons of the past have to be relearned.
