At FedEx you really don't have to do that though... The jumpseats on company are usually wide open. You just jumpseat in to work and you're protected by the contract. I'd much rather jumpseat on FedEx than those brutal coach tickets going JAN-DFW-PHX-ANC. The domestic guys will jumpseat in for a flight and go straight to work. They don't even need crashpads or airport cars.
My first crash pad at FedEx was $250 a month. Because of imputed income it's more expensive to commute to Atlas for many.... Then FedEx paid to move me to MEM so I no longer even have to commute. It really should be a no brainer.

Objectively: $$$ is much better - Buy your own tickets, Buy a better hotel/crash pad, Stay domestic, Paid move to MEM your worksite, trip trade, etc. All Good Stuff!
You only have one life so make it work for you and your priorities - more $$$ in hand is undeniable so most will sacrifice something. For those able to not sacrifice anything you are definitely “Living YOUR Dream!” and that’s fantastic. We’re crew so something will be missing just like Ted Turner when asked how much is enuff. “Just a little bit more!”

Well, at least your whale riding and not guppy griping granted staying home is fun, but not the other stuff.

Could be called tomorrow, could be awhile. Either way I hope you get there. Both great stable companies and I agree even if the Pax carriers had a more stable past I would prefer the box method vs the blood letting. Aside from compensation discussions- Pax carriers do have their allure with their 25 domiciles for the Big 3 not even including the huge bump of LCC’s on top of that while Purple/Brown have 7 or so within the continental U.S. Past decade has given pilots the ability to choose locations they prefer to live/work out of vs the “First One to call!.” Although stifled in 2020, etc., things are starting to ramp up heavily again. May you get to your preferred final destination and be very satisfied/happy! Cheers!

95% of yall are going to get calls from UPS or FedEx if you want them. Most of you will eventually get hired by the first one or interview at both. Having flown at both places Atlas has some great guys and I'm hoping yall either get the contract you're owed or you end up here. Either way all of your futures are very bright.

So if you don't have your 1000 hours PIC or your college degree... Get them. Network with guys you fly with. Don't be an ********* to everyone you meet. Try to get into the training department. Go to a job fair. Do these things and you'll get a call if you want one. The only guys that I think are completely unhireable at Atlas are the guys who can't upgrade and the worst *********s at the company who are known by everyone. From my experience there that's probably 5% of the pilots.
I don't mean at this moment. Add something to your resume. Checkride Busts have a statute of limitations where airlines care - I had more than one. I think the magic number is 6 years. You can get hired with a DUI. I didn't have any of them but I was told that a buddy of mine who does had a great resume. If you have 1000 hours of PIC and a Boeing Type you're very competitive at both of those places. I had an hours long conversation with the former head of pilot recruitment at FedEx. I know these things to be true.

A very small fraction will have that opportunity. So that's nice.
