For those who applied with a future date of availability, about how far out from your availability did you get a call?

Yes and yes. Resignations were running between 40 to 70 monthly before the new “contract”.

However the games are not over. The arbitrator specified 50 % sick leave payout at retirement; now the company says that only applies to short term sick leave, 12 days max. You get nothing for catastrophic sick days, many pilots have hundreds of days banked. Goose egg for those.

12 year plus pilots were awarded a 4th week of vacation. Like the sick leave payout, another of our few wins in arbitration…but the company says not so fast. Seniority before this CBA doesn't count; you begin to accrue that 4th week post arbitration. You’ll have to wait till 2023 to get that extra vacation week, ha ha suckers!

Atlas management never, ever, misses an opportunity to screw their pilots out of one dollar or hundreds of thousands, along with time off.

As the VP of Flight Ops and Chief Pilot said last month we were a small airline and can be once again. With classes of one on the 777 recently and the continuing thievery of management pushing more out the door we’ve started that journey. I expect with these latest slaps in the face to the pilot group resignations will climb into the hundreds per month consistently.

Can someone who is a current employee (and not bitterly twisted) please tell me about life on the 747 vs 777?

I guess I'm wanting to know about trip length, I know the max is 17 days but is that the average or are some shorter?
Do you usually have 10-13 days off after a trip?
As a new FO can I expect to do one 17 day trip a month or could it be two shorter trips?
Average monthly block hours?
Does one fleet have better overnights, or longer stays compared to the other or is it usually min rest?
Do you always have 3 crew on the 747 and 777? Is it usually a captain and two FOs? (General interest question)
Whats the food like that they supply on the plane? This is actually a serious one
What are the hotels like that you stay at? Do they have good facilities, gyms in particular?
Do Atlas employees get the same travel benefits as regional or mainline crews? (As in, standby tickets on most airlines for travelling around)
And, anything else you think is worth mentioning would be great.

As of now, no-one knows, the scheduling language was pretty much totally rewritten and no-one knows how it will be applied.

Like Dera said, scheduling language has been rewritten. Check back in a month or two. This applies to a lot of your questions.

Hotels vary. The worst on the 747 can be debated, but most are Hiltons, Marriott, etc. Most have okay gyms. If you do wind up someplace terrible, there are ways to get out and into someplace nice.

Food varies by station. Sandwiches with lunch meat and cheese, airline-styke meals.

Our travel benefits are significantly worse than a regional. There's a lot that can be said about that.

I left the 747 some time ago. More updated information may come from someone else.

I went to the Atlas website to apply and noticed that, along with the widebody jobs, there was a listing for B737 for Southern Air. I've just started considering ACMI and while I know that Southern and Atlas are one in the same (?) what is the 737 job like versus the widebodies? Is schedule/QOL vastly different from the widebodies ( Accounting for the fact that they obviously aren't doing the same routes/flying).

One thing that kept me from considering ACMI was the long times away from home, but I figure the 737 wouldn't have the same type of schedules as the WB. Again, totally guessing here, would appreciate any insight.

The 737 listings are for lower time pilots. If you meet all the requirements for the widebody position apply to that one. If you’re interviewed, they will ask you to rank your preference of aircraft type. You can request 737 at that time if you so choose.

Plan 90 days. Most seem to get out in 75 or so but I’ve heard of quite a few in the past year that have been there for 90(or even slightly more) days.
