Nothing typical about Atlas. Use the search function and read thru this thread. That very question has probably been asked 3 times in the last 10 pages.

Interview late April, class in August. I’m guessing some others may be getting in quicker than that but I wanted a specific airframe and that’s when my class was assigned.

Default 737 fleet projections

First off, thanks to everyone for the quick and (generally) professional responses. A lot of good information, and it is appreciated.

Given the recent news of Amazon growing with more 767 leases from ATSG, what is the general consensus of the 737 fleet growth potential. The research I’ve done (via news articles and here) says that amazon can place up to 15 more with AAWWH by May 2021, with a 240 day notice of delivery. Is that still the case, or have those options already been deferred? I haven’t found any information for the latter.

I haven't heard anything about us gaining airframes for Amazon. Instead of hoping for growth, I'd be more focused on Amazon's ability to take away the current airframes that they have placed with us, as they recently did by moving two of our 767s to ATI. Keep in mind that *all* of the airframes that AAWH is flying for Amazon can be removed from us with 180 days notice.

Over time Amazon seems to be counting more on reliability than cost (i think another person here laid that out pretty well). We have been unreliable and have lost airplanes from the 767 and 737 programs to other carriers who have in turn been more successful. Of course we also crashed an Amazon plane too. So our Amazon flying in the 767 fleet has been reduced by two airframes, and we went from announcing the arrival of 20 737s to 10 to possibly less. Other operators have and are doing a better job getting airplanes online.

This isn't to say I expect us to lose all Amazon flying, but I would not count on growth as stated either. There isn't enough info to predict what things will look like in 6 months. Moreover the people in charge are struggling to position the company. I don't think they know what's going on either.

All that's to say I'd take things as they look today.

I meant reply to this post. I accidentally quoted RyeMex.

When I applied to AAWWH, during the second phase, they said they wanted to hire in excess of 500 pilots this year.. as compared to around 250 the previous years.
the constant job openings for the 737 and the greater hiring numbers are not related to possible growth with the fleet in your opinion?

In my opinion it does appear like we are hiring more pilots than we currently need. However whether or not that’s for planned future attrition or growth is just speculation.
