They may be using Recruiter Math. Yes, budget for 64 Hours per month. 64 Hours... Read this next sentence with extreme caution. However, during the 8 - 9 months where you aren't training or on vacation, perhaps on the 747 you are bidding 75 - 85 hour lines. (This is why I'm considering a move from the 767 to the 747 after Christmas).
As for the Recruiter math...
Premium Pay: OT and Article 33 sure helps, but it is Seniority based and the timing has to align just right. People living in base probably have a skewed view of what OT most can get. And outbasing... bid for it, but abandon all hope of actually being awarded it until year 4+.
Per Diem: I don't consider this compensation as I eat out on the road, but catering raiders might.
12% DC: I won't see that money for 20 years, but some might add it up.
Someone's W2 may show 200K, but 130K is where your expectations should be.

It's not recruiter math, the 747 just has much better opportunities through the chaos in that fleet.

There has been an increase of flying hours this past six months for the most part (ORD 74) vs days worked (crt) so efficiencies are being attempted for greater gains. Unsure how this will affect future lines with the 76/73 departures time will tell. Keep those triples flowing.

Look here man, I left Atlas awhile back for my legacy gig, I will say that your comment here is way off base.... Awesome QOL can be a achieved at Atlas and a far superior one that no regional pilot will be able to ever achieve regardless of their seniority....

*14 day trip next month (rounded up) and a 20+ above mmg with two great layovers. Must admit having a short back to back that's stuffed in there so there's a small price for high pay.
**I will say it will be interesting to see how our lines might be in the future with all the retraining. OE flights will be almost transparent to normal ops is a guess.

Can you give a detailed response to why Atlas QoL is apparently superior to everyone else? The “trust me bro” is getting kind of old.

At my old regional we had CA’s who flew day trips that credited over 8 hours. They worked 10 days per month max, depending on seniority all weekends off. They could drop any of those day turns, awarded any vacation days they wanted. They made well over 300k with 10% 401k match while sleeping in their own bed every night (I can’t believe I’m having to defend the regionals haha).

Regarding that great Capt life I get it, there are a few anomalies out there - especially those captured during the lost decade. They roll some nice schedules and if it were that great during your early years most would stay. Most do not, you didn't - hence AA is probably where you reside for the past year and some change perhaps. Good stuff and hopefully you reside at your base as that's what it takes to sleep in your own bed every night no matter where you work - dead giveaway. If you're commuting to base and fly your loads and commute home that is miserable. You probably don't, but I hope you do live in your base and your QoL has been mastered and you're where you are supposed to be like many of us.
I would have taken your good advice many moons ago if the pax game fulfilled my priorities - "find an opportunity through a low cost carrier pilot hiring program to skip the regionals." Is what you typed. My advice would be - fly with Atlas see the world if you dare while you wait for your "dream JOB." Same idea, just different approaches literally.

So perhaps you should compare those guys to 20+year 74 Captains at Atlas, and not the 2-3 year FOs that we're talking about? Maybe one that lives in ANC or MIA and spends 25 nights a month in their own bed, yet makes more than double than your theoretical regional Captain? On, and the overnights they do have aren't in a Comfort Inn in Joplin.

And let's context this in -- those guys at your regional were there for 20+ years, spent 10 of those years making $17/hr and until 2021 were making around $120/hr (as topped out Captains) and certainly NOT making $300k, or having a 10% 401k match. Infact, how many of the regionals even do a 10% 401k match?
