In the bid 2? months ago I was 150 #s from 747 capt. At 30 pilots retiring per year, I figured 5 more years to upgrade, maybe a bit less.

Now I'm 60 #s from upgrade. I was pretty surprised to find that I moved up 90 numbers in 2 months...what I thought would take 3 years...

10 more 747 capt bids out very soon is what we just heard...

Same timeframe of being added to the pool (early May), but no class date offered as of yet. Hopefully, I hear something on Monday.

Thumbs up

Passed the written exam and don't have much else to add in regards to gouge. Its pretty accurate and the method that worked best for me was using my trusty old school Gleim ATP question book. For reference i used ACE The Tech Pilot Interview (Barstow) and JAA professional Pilot Studies (Croucher) for altimetry/aerodynamics, and internal docs at my company in regards to performance, NAT tracks, etc.

Thanks to everyone who posted useful info and keep up the good work!

Default written exam

Could you expand on this: Is there a written exam still or just the PC assessment? and what is the typical phone interview about? Technical?

Have you spent any time on this thread? If not, please do yourself a favor and at least read back to the beginning of the year or maybe a couple of month's worth of posts. I won't tell you to read the entire thread...that is likely not necessary, but at least spend some time reading some portion of it.

Good luck.

Thank you! Yes, I have read I few posts and 1099 helped a lot, great post!!!. Got a high score on the online assessment in late June. No call yet.
But I am referring basically to a post from July:
"Phone interview tomorrow afternoon! 2 weeks after taking the test.
Can't do it now because ready to fly.
Wish me luck! "

I will read more posts. Hope they call for an interview in August. Will start sending emails as suggested as well. Thanks!!!

If you've lived abroad in the past 5 years (not including a mil deployment) can Atlas still hiring you? I know there is a law that says you can't carry US mail if you have, which precludes you from being hiring at FDX or UPS... does DHL Mail qualify under this rule?

Interestingly enough, FedEx does say it, it's been common knowledge for a while;

Candidates for jobs involving handling or access to U.S. mail cannot be considered for employment if they have resided outside the U.S., Guam or Puerto Rico for more than (6) six months during the last (5) years prior to today's date, other than the following verifiable exceptions: active duty in the U.S. Uniformed Service; trailing spouse or dependent of someone working for the U.S. government (military or civilian); missionary; student attending school in a foreign country; Peace Corps participant; employee of a U.S. based employer/company or other extraordinary circumstances.

Atlas requires you to have a green card or U.S. Passport. Lots of atlas pilots live overseas, many of them at the time they were hired.
