Get the hell out of there if you are young enough.

EDIT: And I'm a lazy ass. No green slipping or picking up straight time. I fly my line and go home. Guys willing to work more made a lot more.
All of us are trying... I know a 50 something year old 747 Captain who's probably in the top 200 at the company who just put his apps out!

No mention of profit sharing OR special distributions by HR at Dec 2nd interview; 1st year pay was quoted as an average around $70 for the "12 months following IOE" in the 747, and $87K for next 12 months...or better:

.....once again...do not shoot the messenger ... I say again....don't shoot the messenger....who took notes from the slides, and is repeating what HR put out. The way pay was discussed was carefully worded about 12 months following IOE, and very clear that 4 months of $1600.00 could be expected.

I picked up on the way it was carefully presented, but I know Atlas Pilots - and how to separate "1st year pay" from "average of 12 months following IOE". To some it might have sounded like you could get $70k in your 1st year - and that is not what she said.

Exactly. Thanks for taking notes. I picked up on the same but couldn't remember exactly what the figures were. They are not telling interviewees $90K. I don't remember anything about profit sharing either. I think D was pretty straightforward about it based on the last few posts and what my friends experiences have been in the last year.

So by reading the forum pages from November last year, would it be fair to say that ANC and HSV are the junior bases?

If I were to land in Atlas, I would probably relocate to MIA, I assume that would be an impossible base to get right out of training.

With current work rules, would it be better to commute out of MIA to any of the other junior bases or would I be better off just moving the family to the junior base and skip the commute?

I've read a few posts here that have implied that living in base for Atlas is not as beneficial as It is for other airlines, hence the question...

Thanks folks!

MIA is our 2nd most senior base. I'm 20 numbers from 747 Captain and almost had to work Christmas there. I bet you could hold it within 18 months but you'd be the last guy for a very long time. MIA is one of our top bases because trips come and go from MIA and you can live in base.

Good info, thanks.

Am I off about the junior bases being ANC and HSV? After ANC, which other base would be advisable if you wish to live in base?

Looking for qol here, couldnt care less if its the 76 or 74.

A friend started training December 2015, 747. ANC based out of training. Got HSV around June, and MIA this December.

Default Live In Base

If you want quality of life at Atlas, consider Cincinnati. It is the DHL North American hub. It is the junior base on the 767, and you could probably get it within the year on the 747. It makes airport reserve on the 767 side a lot more tolerable, and for some airport reserve is even desirable.

All good points, thx.

I also read a few posts back about the possibility for commuters of having the company send you out to your trip on paid ticket/hotel, instead of straight jumpseat commuting on your own, would anyone care to expand on this? Is it like the "gateway system" used by some corporate gigs?

It seems I would have to commute from FL for some time at first...

Is Miami 747 only?
