Keep in mind that (unless things have changed greatly since I did this) training here is largely a self-taught affair. The classes who do well are the ones that organize group study between themselves and grind it out. Lone wolves and folks who spent time in other pursuits than hitting the books fared less well.

In 2 months of training I didn't go home once. My wife came down for a visit and I took one full day off from any studying. I was stressed that whole day about not studying. I can't imagine how stressed I would have been if I'd been JSing home every weekend.
In my study group we considered days "off" to be days that you could catch up on studying.

He wasn't visionary, as far as the last contract goes. He gave his last/best final offer to the union, and they said no. He stopped negotiating. When he realized that X number of his planes would be parked on ramps gathering dust for lack of crews, he came back to the union with a reasonable offer, which is their new contract. It was only because of the Pilot Shortage that they got a decent contract, not because of Connie.

Heard a rumour from an IAH guy that Omni -777 is taking over the IAH express service to Africa. He is worried that IAH is either going away, or shrinking to almost nothing (he lives in IAH and is on the 747).
