Great info, thank you for the comments. I’m commuting from NW Florida; Tampa is about 6 hours driving. You’re right that I don’t mind what base I go to I was just thinking a single leg for a flight and the capacity to drive in a pinch. I am 0% experienced all things commuting and civilian flying, my experience is exclusively military and this lifestyle & these discussions are all new for me.

Making an assumption here, but I’ve been told PNS (and Destin/Ft Walton) commutes can get pretty painful in the winter. I would take a look at city pairs with at least 3-4 flights a day year round. Atlas will typically only put you on legacies or southwest; I don’t know if they’ll entertain Silver but you might be able to talk to travel and work it out. You can look on passrider.com for schedules. You shouldn’t have to worry about loads or any of that crazy nonsense because you’ll be on a paid ticket, so the schedule will be enough.

If you can find something with 3-4 flights a day you’ll probably be burning a day on both ends positioning with Gateway travel.

Is the Teams meeting for the tech interview a voice-only meeting or is it also video? Wondering if I need to bust my interview clothes out.

Definitely Business attire. This is not a McDonalds interview.

My question wasn’t about what to wear in front of people during an interview and I know it’s not McDonald’s. I’m not familiar with the online-only process so I was wondering what parts, if not all, were video chat and which were voice. If uncertain I was just going to suit up for the whole thing, both days.

Nice shirt an tie. No coat.. The whole thing. Adjust your camera appropriatlly. Underwear optional.. Was dressed better than the interviewer.. And be real clear as to when you can start. Apparentlly wasn't clear enough and lost the gig. Best

Ok great, I’ve only ever flown out for interviews so I want to make sure I have my place (and self) set up properly for this.

Thanks for the other notes. Hope it goes well!

The interview was straight forward. The onboarding process is where things can easily go south.

Email told me to turn off my camera and mute my microphone for the first day where they present about the company. Second day will be business attire for the HR panel and tech interview. Both on Microsoft teams. Good luck!

I would recommend dressing up for the occasion (as in, business casual), if for nothing else, but to get yourself into the interview mood.

Shirt, tie, slacks, suit, whatever you prefer, but that gets you to the right mindset.
