767 = JFK (CVG next year for DHL flying)
747 = probably HSV or JFK for a new guy, but I know people that've gotten MIA right away, so bid whatever you want.

new contract switched back to line bidding. word is it seems to be mostly 17-day trips. (FYI - I'm waiting for 767 OE, so I' passing along what I've heard in the schoolhouse)

I've heard JFK guys often get a ticket somewhere else, whereas in HSV the airplane usually starts/ends there. JFK guys go anywhere, other bases have more regular patterns. IAH has the Africa Express, MIA favors S. America, HSV does the flower run - but again, the only constant here is constant change!

It's still a 50 hour guarantee at 75 an hour but the rig should bump you up into 70 some hours if they keep you out the full 17 days.

I've been a JFK F/O for 19 months now. I've never started a trip in JFK and only finished there two months. I've started in ORD, LAX, CVG, HSV, MIA, CHS, DOV, TOL, and WRI.

Bases change when the company runs a base bid. I've heard of some pilots trying to swap bases, not sure how that works.

I'm guessing it's probably pretty hard to get on coming from Pt. 135 with turbine PIC but no heavy experience right?

Not true...since last April when we started hiring, I flew with several new-hire FO's (on the 744) that only had corporate jet experience (Netjets, privately-owned airplanes, and corporate-owned like a former Ford pilot on the G-IV or G-V).

But ALL have/had PIC experience...whereas, a lot of the FO's from 121 (majors, nationals, and regionals) don't necessarily have PIC time and experience.

Hope that helps...good luck.

Two days???

Pilots with more impressive creds than you have waited for months!! I had 10k and heavy overwater and waited eight months. Other more qualified guys than I am are still waiting. There's no real pattern, though. You could be called tomorrow.

Take the time to read this thread. You'll get a better picture of how things work here.

It takes Patience and luck and you'll need both but it's well worth it.

BTW ... If you do take the time to read the thread, ( and unless things have changed in the past couple of months ) you'll find that your first contact from Atlas HR is a phone interview, not an e-mail. When they do call be ready to complete the phone interview where ever you are and be well prepared to take the online test the next day.

I got hired here without 121 time and mostly 135 and corporate time. I think the hiring process finds a great mix of backgrounds. There currently is not an experience level or background that seems dominate from my observation. Good luck and keep trying. Its a great place to be with great people.
