Anyone have the latest in terms of interviews continuing, calls or letters from the Feb. interview groups, schoolhouse gossip, future 76/74 class dates, etc.
How many days of interviews took place in Feb.? Four (Feb 7, 8, 9, and ?)? Did only the two 76 typed guys got the call? Did they officially get a class date?
With the 200 situation being shaken out, just trying to speculate when classes will start to be filled by those treading water.
Thanks!

Interviews were held Feb 7,8,9, appox 30 interviewees, 15 of those interviewees made the cut..my group on the 8th were all 757/767 typed.
A few of the interviewees have been invited to Mar 19, 767 class.
The remaining interviewees are still in limbo hoping to hear something this week?
The latest class rumors is 2 -767 classes followed by a 744 class in June..
Hope that helps....

Instant 767 experience is not necessarily a bad thing...but I get your point. It makes waiting for a class or interview that much tougher.
Please also consider that not one (I think) of our Captain candidates (including me) have 757/767 experience. We (Captains) have been happily motoring around the world on 4 engines on the 747 and the 744 for (at least) the last 10 years, some much longer than that.
So, for me to go out with one (or two on an augmented, long-range crew) previously experienced guy is a great advantage.
Also, please understand that several of the FOs were Check Airmen and/or Instructors on that fleet in their former lives (Omni, Astar, ABX, etc)...and I'm more than happy to let them lead me around the world to make the operation a safe one.
Thirdly, also consider that the FAA (POI) may have mandated this upon the Flight Ops Management folks that got this program started...
And who knows, by waiting for another time, you (or others) might get into a 744 class...that's not a bad thing, right?
Good luck.

JonnyK,
The Atlas CEO has expressed publicly that Atlas wants to get into the Charter pax biz in a big way. Absorbing the Global assets would give you guys an instant turnkey Charter Pax business.
The other thing that would do for you is negate the downside of training/hiring issues in a start up deal. You'd have qualified crews and airplanes in place. There has been a persistant rumor that Atlas wants an East Coast base. JFK is perfect for that because it reduces the travel costs for positioning crews where the planes are.

And Atlas already has a JFK 744 and 767 base. Not to say that they aren't looking to grow, but, as has been said, Atlas has a pretty full plate right now and they seem to be very prudent about not biting off more than they can chew.
