I don't think they have ever released a staffing ratio at Atlas...

But I remember a talk with a Scheduling Committee member and he said that we were at 7 Captains and 10 First Officers on the 747...that was several years ago, FWIW.

Boeing Delivers 20th 747-8

Atlas Air to operate airplane on behalf of Panalpina

Press Release: Boeing – 12 hours ago

EVERETT, Wash., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (BA) today marked the 20th delivery of its new 747-8. The airplane, a 747-8 Freighter, was delivered to Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. Atlas Air will operate it on behalf of Panalpina, the Swiss-based freight operator. This marks the first time in Panalpina's history that an airplane has been painted in the company's livery.
The 747-8 Freighter will immediately enter service when it departs Seattle for Hong Kong later today. The airplane, named the 'Spirit of Panalpina', will then fly from Hong Kong on to Luxembourg with cargo on board.
Atlas Air has ordered nine 747-8 Freighters, two of which they will operate for Panalpina.
The 747-8 Freighter offers 16 percent more capacity than the 747-400 Freighter. It is environmentally more progressive, with double digit improvements in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions and a noise footprint reduction of 30 percent.
To date, Boeing has now delivered 20 747-8s including 16 747-8 Freighters, three 747-8 Intercontinentals to VIP customers and one 747-8 Intercontinental to Lufthansa.

Anybody know where this -400 is actually coming from? Stock is up significantly today after this announcement. Maybe they will start to drain the pool...

PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW), a leading global provider of outsourced aircraft and aviation operating services, today announced the agreement to place a ninth Boeing 747-400 freighter into express network ACMI service for the benefit of DHL Express beginning in July 2012.
William J. Flynn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Air Worldwide, said, “We are pleased to announce this agreement. The additional 747 freighter that will begin flying for DHL will complement the eight aircraft we already have in service for its global express business. This incremental aircraft reflects the continued growth of DHL Express and our proven ability to support customer initiatives by delivering global operating scale and consistent service excellence. The aircraft will be used in an expanded trans-Pacific dedicated freighter network.”
Atlas Air Worldwide’s unit, Atlas Air, Inc., which provides outsourced airport-to-airport wide-body cargo solutions, will operate the aircraft for its sister company, Polar Air Cargo Worldwide, Inc., which serves DHL and other customers.

Probably one of the -400s from Panalpina contract as the -8 is in revenue service now.

There's only a few hundred responses on this thread explaining the process. Do the leg work like everyone else has. It's far too involved to just explain it just for you.

this thread is kind of a self-test as to how you would fit in at Atlas. If you take the time to read all 340 pages:
- you'll have the answers to almost every question you might have, especially about the interview process
- you'll have a good idea of how things work here and if it's right for you.

you'll find that many of us will be happy to offer info or advice once you've done your homework.

that said, hiring is currently shut down. many fine people have been waiting for a long time for a class date or an interview, and we all hope things start moving soon.

There's no rush at the moment, so you have plenty of time to get to know us. Good luck!
