Congratulations to all those having Atlas success! So great to see fellow hopefuls put in the efforts necessary to get on and have success at it! Brings a virtual tear to my eye even to see you guys/gals paying it forward! That is the Atlas way.
For those not quite there yet, have hope, as you can see persistence pays off.
Word is that there will be a class of about 12 (aircraft to be determined) every 3 weeks for at least the next 3 months and as for the 74 side there is more work than there are airplanes to do it. Lots of "more 767" rumors as well, the charter stuff is picking up and they get to go to all sorts of interesting places.
Thank you to those that have said kind words for us information disseminating forum geeks. It is very nice of you to say.

I went from NRT TO NGO. Just go to the JR desk and they will be able to help. Key words: narita express, shinagawa station (changeover point from press to,shinkashen train), nagoya. Make sure the ticket starts in Narita so you can take the hotel shuttle to Narita Station. The guy understood English well enough that he gave me 2 different prices based on class. Regular class or Green car (business class) I got mine in the airport terminal. I bought tickets for 3 of us in about 5 minutes.

Mins lowered several times... seems that the mil & regional guys have the edge here vs furloughed/unemployed AMCI guys that know how much better they had it than what Atlas's swiss cheese CBA provides. Just an observation on who is being hired lately, maybe I am wrong.

Children of the Train (reference to children of the corn -- not me scolding you as a child). In the back of my mind I keep hearing those voices in my head (yes, there are a lot of them) of cheaper fairs than taking a business class ticket according to the CBA. I certainly hope that's not the case.
Although I know part of this job is adventure and fun exploring, may I caution you not to give up your hard fought for "is what it is" CBA business class seats regardless of the type of transportation used. If you're getting the business or first on the train enjoy it. If you're not, well, . . . I won't waste my time writing how screwed up that is.
I do, however, understand taking a train if business class is sold out and there's no other alternative.
How does this pertain to a hiring thread you might ask? Well, it's time we start policing our own and negotiations will be here before you know it. I would like to hope that anyone that joins our group understands that when you give up a benefit found in the CBA for your own convenience it gives data to management that people really don't need what we have (different layover hotels for longer times, business class seats, etc.).
Enough said, off the soap box, good luck in getting the class date.
Cheers!

Interesting given that of the 12 guys interviewed yesterday 8 were World, 1 NAA, and then I think 1 Air Force, 1 Corporate and 1 RJ.

Amen! And to add, the company will try to put you in a non-downtown hotel routinely (for layovers >18 hrs, you are due a downtown hotel IAW the CBA). Call travel and make them fix it!
Good luck to all those applying, learn the airplane AND the CBA, or else you will be taken advantage of.

Yes, for those thinking of coming here take notice. Lately the company has been running like a crappy regional with these contract issues. They pretty much knowingly violate the contract until you do their job and correct them. Duty day over 16 hours domestic? Contract says you get first class ticket. Don't worry, there is a 100% chance that they will buy you coach and you'll have to correct them. This is life lately at this place. You'll have to do all that extra stuff correcting them while they guilt trip you for following the contract.

Oookay. Hopefully a steward can sort 'em out. Again.
I'll add that I don't think any of this is malicious; my former company was known to be outright malicious with contractual violations, requiring the union to drag them to grievance and arbitration hearings over every little thing. I simply think it's ignorance on the part of the people in scheduling and travel. They're just not standardized. I'd put money on the fact that I'll call back after the shift change and get a completely different answer.
