I'm the JS coordinator at my current airline and from what I have heard AA and US Air will transition to the US Air agreement sometime this summer. Supposedly everyone will be grandfathered onto one list and it will be unlimited with International travel. So S5 should have both AA and US Air by june/july which will make commuting a little better....

No. Southern and Florida West will remain 100% separate in all things. The duplication of effort in administrative functions is essential for the two carriers to retain the veneer of not having common operational control. Florida West is going to be an "Alter Ego"airline that can make SAI look profitable when its up for sale, or penniless when its time for contract negotiations.

"Update on Business Developments
Dan McHugh <[email protected]>
Thu 4/2/2015 11:37 AM
To: Dan McHugh;

To: All Southern Air Employees

Following on news we discussed with you in February, I have some updates to share with you on recent business developments.

Yesterday, Worldwide Air Logistics Group, Inc. completed its acquisition of Florida West International Airlines, Inc., following regulatory approval.

Florida West now joins Southern Air as a separate operating air carrier and subsidiary of Worldwide, enabling the group to expand our cost-focused, customer-oriented, lean and efficient offerings to new customers in more markets.

Florida West and Southern Air will remain separate air carrier operating companies under Worldwide. Each carrier will continue to deliver on a standalone basis the exceptional performance and superior service customers expect.

In addition, Fred deLeeuw now leads Southern Air as president, effective today. Fred joined Southern Air in 2013 and has been integral part of the company’s executive management team. Fred has more than 35 years of aviation experience in finance, operations and leadership. He has held many senior leadership roles at Atlas Air, Inc., Vanguard Airlines, Inc., Northwest Airlines Corp., and Continental Airlines, Inc., among others. Please join me in congratulating Fred.

I would also like to congratulate Worldwide's executive leadership team, which includes Dave Soaper as president, Jon Olin as chief administrative officer, and Oliver Gritz as chief commercial officer. As CEO of Worldwide, I look forward to continuing to rely on the superior expertise of these stellar leaders in aviation.

We encourage all employees to reach out with questions you may have and we will continue to keep you updated as we work to diversify and grow our business.

Thank you for your continued commitment to safe operational excellence.

Dan McHugh

CEO, Worldwide Air Logistics Group, Inc."

I really like the way Dan is so bad at e-mail that he left the "To: Dan McHugh;" address line in this update. Whoever wrote it for him is probably doing a facepalm. Still, it is not as bad as the time he left the actual author's full contact details at the footer of a message.

"Umm, ahhh, umm, ahhh, well, err, ahh, ahh, err, ahh, umm."

A "stellar" example of his verbosity illustrated during the phone conference call.

That should actually read - "hold on folks while I try to make up some more lies to cover up what I am really trying to do."

robthree:
I really worry that management's pigheadedness on this issue will cause us to go out of business before the investors have a chance to fire them.
My sentiment exactly.

In the office they have already put up a glass wall (literally) between Worldwide & Southern.

IMHO the titular heads of this organization will let what exists now wither and die due to their mismanagement, as they blithely pursue the next nascent business opportunity.

Yes, it does. Global Aviation holdings spent over two million a year (at one point in time over 4 million) in extra expenses to maintain separate operations, even when they claimed they were losing money.

At certain times, it's not about how much money is spent, it's about controlling labor. And for that, no cost is too high.

Global Aviation Holdings paid the ultimate price. They lost control and were forced into the hands of venture capital. This was when the die was cast for the destruction of North American and World.

DHL is driving all of this, they offered the 737 deal to the ACMI companies as a take it or leave it contract for substandard wages and benefits compared to the market. We were fools to vote this LOA in. Let's stand together to make Management at both Southern and DHL regret their actions. They deserve what they pay for. The substandard pay and benefits will increase the risk of substandard service, not only at Southern but at every DHL carrier being played by DHL.

50% of ATSG's revenue is DHL 45% at ATLAS and 100% at Southern
I don't know about Kalitta. Do you think we can get DHL's attention? Darn right! Market forces work both ways. Stop selling yourselves short, fuel cost the same for all carriers, capital cost are similar, why do we allow management to dictate the value of our services. 1224 I'm ready for a plan instead of talk. ATI & ALPA where are you?
Thanks for letting express my views.
