What's the outlook on the 777? Any more classes in early 2016, or is it pretty much staffed with the recent new hire classes?

I heard they will hire more pilot for both aircraft 737 & 777, but I only heard it from someone who work there... could it be rumor? I don't know but thats what he said..

There is a class of 14 777 pilots planned for January. I assume it is already full but I do not know if there is a pool for backfill if somebody backs out. I think it is a safe bet that there will be ongoing hiring for the B737 throughout 2016.

If interested in either position send in a resume and see what happens. Plans can change weekly. That's how ACMI works.

Attrition still is very high. Those 14 will be replacing 20 that leave. Southern has become nothing more than a training camp. That's because they treat ALL their employees with the highest level of disrespect, and they especially hate pilots. No one is going to willingly stick around for the abuse.

If you want employment with SAI, your plans should include your exit strategy in six months.

If your there for longer than that, your stuck in the Roach Motel.

Remember that at Southern Air it will only get worse, never better.

I saw an ad for another company hiring B737 freighter FO's in CVG. Maybe Southern won't have to hire into the 737 program much longer? I know the memo said Southern was supposed to be getting two more 737's first quarter of next year but who knows.

Well.....Mr Negativity. Why don't you provide everyone specific examples of the "hate" and "disrespect" that you have suffered from in the last 12 months. I'm not trying to be a company cheerleader but you speak in general terms. Give better examples and maybe perspective new hires will listen. Otherwise you're just a yappy dog sitting in the corner annoying the hell out of everyone with your chihuahua-like bark and no bite. Using our current crappy, outdated CBA that is now open for negotiations does not count because that is the contract we are currently bound by. Examples please.

What are you doing to either leave for greener pastures or to make SAI a better place Diesel8? If your answer to this questions is "nothing" than you really should just $TFU!

Strikes,

Stop telling people to shut up. You're not the internet police. Don't like Diesel's point of view? Don't read it. Better yet, refute it with facts.
SAI is not a career destination for anyone, apart from you 777 Captains. And we all know there is snowball's chance in hell of anyone othern than the next ten names down the seniority list seeing the left seat in the triple before the end of the decade.

You want a concrete example of disrespect? Where are you staying in LAX? I was on the hotel committee and I couldn't get a straight answer. The company wanted to do site inspections on extended stay properties that had less than a two star average on Yelp. Because they were cheaper than the Crowne Plaza. How about Leipzig? The Penta is ok, but the Marriott was much better. Seems the company burned a bridge there and we will never get back now. The 737 guys are stuck in the boonies in RNO. Do you love the CVG Hilton? Because at $63 a night you will be there forever. But since breakfast and points cost an extra $5 a night, you won't see them again.

The current crappy CBA most certainly does count as disrespect. Proposing it in the first place demonstrated their disrespect for the pilots. The fact that a majority of the membership had so little self-respect as to approve it does not diminish management's disdain for us.

If they did have any respect for us, management would come to us now and say, "The contract we have now is far below market. Yeah, we screwed up our bid for 737 flying with DHL, and can't afford much more, but we can offer you ABC and XYZ. Its not a lot but we'd like to do it as a show of good will. We certainly need the pilots to move our freight on time. And if people keep quitting at this rate we're gonna have to park airplanes again."

But they won't throw crumbs at us because we don't rate as high as pigeons do to them; we're barely worms.

Lately CVG has been sold out and they have been putting crews up at the Red Roof and Quality Inn.

Otherwise the 777 crew hotels aren't too bad.

LAX Embassy suites isn't too bad. The HGI Redondo is nice but not a great neighborhood.

LEJ Penta is ok.

EMA is nice considering the options around. The property is happy to have us and lots of cool things around.

HKG, ICN, and BAH are nice.

Robthreee those are valid points. Does Diesel8 have anything other than generalizations? Also, thank you for volunteering for the Hotel Committee and trying to make things better while you were here. If more people actually participated in solving our issues we'd have fewer issues.

You did what I am advocating for. You did not like the current conditions you work under so you found a way to try to help improve things while here. At the same time you actually looked for a better flying job and found one. I respect that. *****ing and complaining on APC when it takes no more effort than typing is tiresome. That's my position with Diesel8......either work to make it better, leave, or $TFU. I believe I also gave someone else that advice and he did two out of the three.

So strikes, did you vote? Oh wait, you can't since your management.

You don't know me, or what I have either done or not done. Be assured that I help more than you know.

Instances? How about firing a manager who was thought of as being too sympathetic to the crews.

So even management can't be good to each other.

Tailwinds buddy!
