Additionally.....most carriers use a point based system. Are you...
1. A minority?......+ 1 point
2. A female?..........+ 1 point
3. Female and minority?.....+3 points(compounding effect)
3. Agender/ Bigender/ adrogynous/hermaphrodite?....+5 points
4. Transgender.....+ 7 points
Female and minority and sexually confused?....a shoe in!!!!

Wow.....and some are pushing to let 16 year olds vote. We have folks on here who are incapable of recognizing humor and sarcasm even when it was stated as being such.......and who apparently have problems sussing out the main point of the paragraph. Do you remember when that was the basis of one of the portions of a SAT tests?
Question....who did I include in the special interest groups from the perspective of a civilian pilot? There were at least 6....that is SIX...seis...sechs....hex(for our Greek witches).....and my favorite..SEX (for our libidonous Latin lingoists). It truly speaks volumes that you stopped at only one of the demographics I mentioned.....women. Of note, I also included military pilots(of which I was and I got hired with less than 2000TT). The main point was you have to compare apples to apples. Since Stoki may have a dearth of hiring info, I was attempting to provide realistic info. I will stand by my roughly 50% hired are military, now subtract out all the other demographics I cited and I think my estimate was fairly accurate. I will admit that as the furlough recalls have abated, his chances get better.
Stoki....if you want to think that 100% of the pilots hired at the legacies mimic your resume...more power to you(I don't think you are as obtuse as some here seem to be). Your chances get better as time goes by(not much solace, I know). They have their opinions and you've seen mine. Good luck to you. Soldier on

I came from EK (did nearly 7 years there) and was prior regional before that, lots of us here that flew overseas. I also know several that went to DL and lots at UPS as well. I haven't heard of many euro LCC people making the jump, but I don't think its a hinderance at all. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

Based on what you have written I suspect you have espoused these views in the cockpit. Ranted to other pilots who have moved on. What do you think they have said about you to their new employers?

Maybe it you and your personality or decisions you’ve made that are preventing you from getting the call ? People have long memories and if you are trying to get hired somewhere and you were a JA then you reputation may precede you in your future endeavors.

Swing and a miss....thanks for proving my point once again.....your reading comprehension is abysmal.....from my post I said "Of note, I also included military pilots(of which I was and I got hired with less than 2000TT).
Been at a legacy in excess of 30 years.....Have I earned the right to have an opinion? If we are going to throw barbs....Am I possibly "hitting to close to home". Two can play this game. Just so you know.....I couldn't get an application from United years ago because they had been slapped by a class action lawsuit .....applications were going out( a friend of mine got one(racial minority), we laughed about it). However, I did get hired by 3 legacies(only applied to 3) ....(I am not holding a grudge and actually am thankful for the way things worked out) Does UAL still have their "no upgrade" list that harkens back to those years?
If any pilot gets points added based upon their gender or race or legacy status, etc., ....that doesn't mean they are unqualified, nor less qualified . It simply means that the playing field is not level if fortune/chance/ choice/ gender/kizmit haven't showered you with affection. It's a zero sum game. Every position taken up with somebody with equal qualifications that gets the nod before you because of things you cannot control, he is at a artificial disadvantage.
I am not mad or upset about it. It's the way the world turns. To get your tutu in a tizzy that I state the obvious is astounding (no, I am not insinuating you are a woman or anything else, it is a figure of speech... reign in the PC police).
Cheers,

Thanks guys for the replies, and feedback, it's appreciated. Sometimes these questions get raised in your mind. I'm not bad where I am but really want to move back to the U.S and stop living on suitcases. I'll be patient a while longer but eventually may start looking at some other companies if need be.
Thanks guys, how did it look like going about PRIA requests or background checks etc? Anything out of the ordinary or did things easily fall into place? Did they request docs from the country/countries you were living?
I would be that dude. It’s possible but not easy...I had to schlep my butt across the Pacific multiple times to go to those bloody job fairs, all on my own dime. In the end it just happened to be a chance conversation over a beer that made the difference. I was very, very lucky but the stars aligned perfectly.
Also, for reference, I’m a US resident married to a US citizen and had almost 9 years of US 121 experience, in addition to 3000hours flying 73’s around Australia and SE Asia. The whole “only FAR121” experience requirement is BS. As long as you’re flying a commercial aircraft in ops equivalent to 121, you’re good to go.

Well Blizzue....I agree with you about the "not hurting him on the international front".....curious why I ruffled your feathers? What is it that I stated that you disagree with? A great number of pilot hiring slots have been/are eaten up with special interest groups. That's a fact (females, minorities, legacy children, flow up's, military, furlough recalls). Additionally, I never stated nor insinuated that there was anything wrong with the hiring practices....it's the way of the world, even the corporate world. I promise , you won't hurt my feelings, maybe I need a reality check.....OBTW, you do know that the post started with sarcasm and funnin', however, I'll stand by most of it.
Stoki....now that you have fleshed out a little more of your background, I think you are right on track and think your approach is spot on, especially since you are are already well ensconced where you are. Even more so if you are enjoying the experience. As I posited earlier, the number of candidates like you are few, but I think that the HR dept would value your experience (you bring more to the table with your vast international experience). Combined with your Chief Pilot job( as long as it's not the chief pilot of 4 pilots) I think you are well positioned. However, I agree, more rec's would be helpful.
Not sure what some on here take offense to about what I wrote. I will reiterate.....IT IS A NUMBERS GAME! After you factor out all the special interest groups, my guess is only 25% of the slots are left. The competition is keen, but I feel positive about your chances(especially if UAL isn't your only choice)
Press on and good luck
Cheers
