It’s not a bonus if it’s a requirement.

My airline an ULCC - considered a Major on APC is hiring Purdue grads with the restricted ATP - I believe we have 5 or so now.
Granted they do have 1000 ish hours vs the 250 hour guys in 1963.
I was hired 9-63, but then you had to have C-SEL, Inst. Shortly after, they hired a few to send across the field to Gates for Comm. Inst. Same with T-way. More of an exploration into the unknown than anything else, but these were engineer jobs, it would be a while before they let you near the machinery. The sad part was at TWA they would hire a class of F/O's and then a class of S/O's. Upgrade went in seniority. Many S/O's failed upgrade due to sitting sideways for so long. 100 hour IOE's were not uncommon. Brutal.

Interesting that the more experienced get the less demanding of the two jobs, no? Always thought flying Dashes through the Northeast weather should have been on top of the pay scale. 8 legs a day a decade ago wasn't rare for those pilots. Getting bounced to hell, playing with all those levers, and literally being looked down upon on the ramp.. Flying the same passengers.... And one great safety record to boot.... Respect..

If I'm not mistaken, he literally just asked a question. He's clearly not an industry insider and instead of just answering the question, you and everyone else here are assuming he's "entitled" based off of basically nothing at all. Hopefully this thread devolves into yet another baby boomer circle jerk over millennials - thanks for doing your part

Had. I heard we shut it down after a few candidates came over and were woeful in training

Is there any way I can skip the beginning of the circle jerk and get right to the reward at the end? This is, after all, the thread for jumping to the good part.

Why are you guys so rude and condescending? Are you really that insecure? He/she just asked a question! And in a lot of countries pilots do get hired directly by the airlines.

You said bonus Einstein
Wrong interpretation from your part
Try delta in about 12 years, you may qualify by then which is 2-3 years instructing and 8-9 years at a regional or Uncle Sam
What college you go to, don’t they have seniors to you ?
