Pilot career for old guy?

Well, do ya, punk?
I also believe in making my own luck, and I agree that some things are still outside of our control. Thanks for the advice.

Even if I didn't want to fly, the MBA will take at least a year and a half to finish. Why not fly at least during that time?

If I may change the subject abit... I see job posts in China and India
repeated daily looking for Captains on i.e. a320 and just 100 hrs pic
yet at the same time I see where people with low time ask for job advice
and responses are "I have 7,000 hours a type in the 320 and 1000
hrs in type, speak 3 languages and have 3 degrees and cant find a job...
What gives ? I see their profile and they are not over 60/65. Am I missing something here ? Thanks for info...

A lot of people change careers in mid life. I am very identified with Vulcan since I share a lot of Vulcan's concerns. I'm also 44 years old and I got my PP 24 years ago. For different reasons, I quit flying but I'm ready to come back. I just got copy of my ticket and my class III medical. Since I lost my logbook, I'm waiting for a copy of my form 8710. After that I will get some hours and my BFR. I'm thinking about joining the CAP and perhaps getting my instrument rating. Let's see how things go...

There is much debate about whether or not it is worth the sacrifices to leave another career and follow this dream. I think I will happiest if I can fly. If the best thing for my family is to go back to management and earn enough money to BUY or share in something faster and nicer than a Cessna 172, then so be it. In the meantime, I'm working on both the flying option and the MBA route as a backup.
If you are 44, I'm sure you must have other marketable skills that you can fall back on if necessary.
