Default Accident record

Which airlines reject your application if you've had an accident? I had a forced landing in 2009.

What were the reasons for your forced landing? You will have the chance to explain what happened on the application. Do not think that you will be automatically rejected by the airlines.

It was due to engine failure and I managed to walk away from it. I was wondering if any reject you outright like certain Asian airlines?

A forced landing with no damage to the aircraft or other property is neither considered an accident nor an incident. I had a forced landing in a 210 a couple of years ago that myself and 3 pax walked away from in the mountains, and it is not on my record at all. I do bring it up during interviews if given the opportunity though. Request a copy of your record and I'm sure you'll find that clean.

Yes, some asian airlines will reject you if you have any blemish on your record (regardless of fault).

Are you sure it isn't an 'Incident'?
From ICAO Annex 13:
Incident.
An occurrence, other than an accident, associated with the operation of an aircraft which affects or could affect the safety of operation.
A forced landing would seem to fit this definition.

If you got into a accident or incident, why is it hard to find employment? What if it was mother nature? I hear stories all the time about pilots can't find employment because of an accident or incident

Well as long as I have a chance to explain myself, I should be ok.

I'm not sure why it doesn't show up on my record. Since my failure occurred while on a 135 trip with pax I had to deal with the Feds for a while afterwards, but they assured me that nothing would show up on my record and it hasn't. They advised me that when I fill out insurance forms there is no need to check "yes" on the accident/incident question. Beats me though. It sure felt like an incident when it was happening.

Well...maybe something not showing up on your record is a different matter than something not being considered an incident. Sounds like you had one for sure but you were not found causal so you don't need to get dinged on it when it comes to disclosure. If the Feds were investigating, I'm sure they either had to classify it in form or another. They weren't out there investigating *nothing*
