Tips for getting the interview...

I've been thinking about this and can't think of a single thing a regional pilot could put down. They don't exactly do Employee of the Month...

Maybe at your part time gig in HS or college?
OTOH, what informal achievements do you have at your regional? 100% dispatch reliability over an X-month period? Operate your flights on time 100% in a given month? Been junior manned 3 times in a week? Perfect attendance? Have you ever timed out for the year? Has a customer or coworker ever written a complimentary letter about you? Ever get an 'attaboy' from an LCA or CP put in your file?
Its a lot easier for Mil guys to check these boxes, but that doesn't mean that RJ guys can't.

By getting envolved with company related committies and union volunteerism, you'd be surprised how easy that box is to fill out. I'm not saying it's a deal breaker if you don't have any extra work experience, but 95% of guys I know at United easily filled this box with their outside the flight deck experience.

At my former regional, LCAs and management pilots could give out little cards to someone that they felt went above and beyond or especially embodied the companies guiding principles. It wasn't a big formal thing but you entered the number on the card into the company website and could win prizes and all of them were stored in your profile. Not a big deal but still technically an "Achievement or Award." Point being is it doesn't necessarily have to be a big formal award for you to put it on an app.

To think that we used to hire pilots. Fred Astaire and Mother Teresa with a pilot's license need only apply now.
Perfect attendance tells me the guy flew sick. A 100% operation rate tells me the guy got lucky with operational aircraft. The List goes on.
I'll take a line pilot who can fly, has SA, and likes to have fun any day.
