Ten Hut!!!
It's lights out time guys!! Early morning P.T. is at 0530!!
In all sincerity...I don't envy his position. It's tough to tell only a small handful of folks, "Hey, you guys look like slobs." Hard to be subtle with that kind of junk. At least he offered his literary disclaimer at the onset of his letter.

Give him a chance. Previous traffic indicated he was more of a "company, union, work force" kind of guy...not just "this is what your dorks are screwing up..."
I think everyone needs to sit back and smoke a lucky on this one for a while. Jack was good--but--he had his peeves too. Not much of a smiler. Never a positive word for the union (O has already said more about ALPA that I heard in 5 years of Jack's tenure). Jack's "no guys from major airlines..." mantra hurt a lot of good guys and their sponsors. Mailed a hate gram to captains. Had 24 hours to think and then still hit send on hategram to FOs and SOs.
I liked the guy. I thought he was a straight shooter. But geez--nobody is a saint, and the military teaches you NOBODY is beyond replacement. Give O a fair shake--I think we'll be pleasantly surprised.
And I don't get the kiwi joke. Are we saying O will be a spit and polish guy? Well--I got a bunch of uniform comments in our Jack-grams...and yet I never saw a bit of action (perhaps its because I wear the uniform without too many non-standard accouterments?). Can somebody explain the joke as if you were talking to a six year old? Maybe then I can follow...

Albie.

Jack might have hurt your business a bit but I have to take "O's" e-mail at face value. Does not look like much of a change in direction only style.

Actually--Jack helped it by closing doors to guys who had already successfully gotten hired at a major and had plenty of experience and confidence. The griping I heard was from LCAs who mentioned they knew "X" that was a great guy but got told a flat out "no!" during a meet and greet.
FWIW...FedEx is a "drop" in the Emerald Coast bucket. The big business the last few years is the LCCs...as that is where the volume is. SWA will interview more guys this year than we've hired since I started at FedEx, and will hire 400-600 folks. Jack never hurt me a bit--but I do want Neeleman at Jetblue and the fine folks at SWA to stay healty and live long, happy lives....
