These specifics are very interesting if not telling of the times.
This shows up in some form on nearly every pilot job posting I see, including those for corporate flight departments. These things are written by HR people advised by lawyers.

Totally makes sense. As time has progressed more lawyers more HR, less law suits, less workers comp, etc. It’s not on our job posting nor Purple, Brown, etc but I am recalling many moons ago, I mean many, many moons ago.. Checked our Atlas site, but it might be imbedded in further detailed areas. You’re so correct, management really isn’t management at all anymore just lawyers. “Attendance” was the interesting one, go figure.

*True, have seen it for decades on corporate as they throw bags for the most part.

Default ATI Latest?

Just got the job offer and trying to figure out what course of action I should take. I’m currently at a regional and about 400 hrs from being eligible for upgrade. I’ve been told the 767 type can be worth it’s weight in gold but I’ve also heard the same for PIC time.
Wanted to get the perspective from some current ATI pilots about schedule, QoL, pay, training, attrition, etc.

That’s a tough one, and I’ve been there before. As long as things stay as they are with everyone hiring, you can truly do whichever you’re more interested in and be fine. I personally know guys with legacy job offers with no PIC and others with no heavy. When I was in your position though, I went for the PIC and it’s (finally) paid off personally. The music stopped shortly after I upgraded and I was happy to be left seat vs bottom of a seniority list as furlough bait.

You’ll likely get more time off at your regional, just split up rather than 7-12 days straight. QOL only you can answer based on what’s important to you. It’s not bad here, but not great either. Pay is what you see on APC unless you want to be gone more than 16 days a month, soft pay doesn’t really exist. Training is not hard here, but you won’t be spoon fed either. Awesome instructors though. Many are retired AA guys and make it fun. As for attrition, well, there’s a hiring wave so I imagine it’s about the same as anywhere that isn’t the top 5. Feel free to PM. Happy to help.

Ok this is definitely helpful. A year ago I think I would’ve prioritized the PIC time but with the (alleged) metering from regionals -> majors I’m wondering if the faster route is outside of the regional system.

I am not at ATI but at a different ACMI.

Depends on your goals. I was in the boat of taking the first upgrade ASAP, I did that. However the music stop and I was downgraded after regional furloughed half of the pilot group. My ACMI called when I was back in the right seat and I jumped because I didn’t know if the music stop was going to start playing backwards and then I was next.

I personally in camp of get out of the regional game ASAP. Because if the music stops again, you will be better off at a ULCC or ACMI vs your regional. Remember, when the music stops, everyone gets hit hard, but the regionals get hit the hardest.

ULCC/ACMI is a safer bet if you are hedging your bets against a industry slow down and give you a decent place to ride things if you don’t get the call. With everyone hiring, you will get the call either or.

Thats my take.

I’m in year 6 over here and I’ll give my .02 cents worth. If the questions you pose are of actual importance to you, you need to be pursuing a career with a carrier who sells their own tickets, or flies their own freight. Granted, the AMCI world will generally pay more than the regionals, the models are both the same.

With all that said, overall I’ve had a good ride here. But, I’m a 6 year captain who upgraded in less than 2 years, and I already have my retirement in place. Unless there is more growth coming, the 1-2 year upgrades are done.

Best of luck in whatever decision you make.

Cheers
