Approve this coming FDA LOA, no matter what it will be a net gain over what we have. Wait before you start shooting me down...

Then if it is not worth bidding for you ..don't.

If we turn down the LOA, the Company can and most likely will open these domiciles with NO extra benefits OR they will decide to contract some or all of that flying and make us battle them in arbitration land for the next 20 years on scope violations. In the end, the arbitrator will probably say "the company offered you guys a way to do this flying, your grievance is therefore DENIED".

Secondly, if the company chooses to fill those slots with junior guys or new hires we have further divided our ranks because these guys will say "I could of had...COLA, Tax help, better move package etc, and the Union screwed me over".

The Company is doing this for one and only one reason, MONEY. Whether we like it or not we need to think about the ramifications of turning down an LOA out of spite to the MEC or if you think it is not enough. It will not be enough for me no matter what they offer, but since they plan to do this we better have plan if we say NO.

Remember the Company does not need an LOA to open any new FDA's.

SFS folks bid SFS without an LOA..........are they Bad folks?

Don't let wild emotions cloud your Judgment.

SFS is about .25 cents on the dollar. It's at the opposite end of the pendulum compared to the COL in CDG and HKG. If anything the company would have to give a pay cut for SFS to maintain our standard of living.

"THANKY! THANKY! THANKY!" my 2cylinder friend!

I said in an earlier post it's all about MONEY and if Fred can get guys to go to HKG or CDG for free it works in his favor. $3000 housing allowance = chub change.

My prediction, other than the Panthers in the Super Bowl this year, both domiciles open and are fully staffed by primary bidding crewmembers, REGARDLESS of any LOA.

Already know one FDX SFS Capt and another Cathay 777 Capt living comfortably in HKG and I am personally considering 757 Capt in CDG myself.

Golly guys! I'm just happy to be here.

I think I'd go even if they paid less than stateside. What a great opportunity! It would be an adventure for me and my family. And, they'd pay us, too? Unbelievable!!

I worry about our future.

For those of you too dense to figure it out...All, but the last sentence was meant as sarcasm.

Unfortunately, either you guys don't read well or I didn't convey my message properly. The point of my post was not to blacklist guys who bid the foreign domicile under a member approved LOA. Now settle down and start reading the entire post before you run your mouth.

Wasn't pointing at you directly so I apologize if you took it that way. It is just that many people on this forum seem to Think ALPA holds some large amount of negotiating leverage. I doubt there is much actual negotaitions taking place. It is more like our NC is probably showing actual cost of Living expenses and are making recommendations to the company rather than demands. The company is gonna pay what they decide they are goning to pay.................It is tough to make demands when you have little leverage.
