hamfisted,
Great post! I agree wholeheartedly, lenkelly is definitely a chameleon. We all should be very, very afraid of this guy. It's amazing when these management types put "pilot" after chief. There's nothing "pilot" about them.

I know this will sound trivial, but here are some other issues with the STVs.
1. Will I check into the hotel one time, drop my bags and unpack for the entire three months? Or will I be checking in and out every flight as we do now, living out of my suitcase for three months?
2. Will we stay in our typical layover hotel rooms or will they be like a Residence Inn where we have kitchettes and a separate sitting room that offers a place to spread out for three months?
3. If they are typical hotel rooms which means no kitchenette, will my per diem be increased to account for the extra money I'll have to spend going to a rerstaurant three times a day?
4. Will I have a washer/dryer in my three month hotel room? Or will I be walking my stuff to a landromat once a week?
5. Who will pay for the hotel when my wife shows up? If I am moving rooms every night as we do now, how will that work when she's there?
6. How long will my wife be able to stay?
7. Will I be taken off the schedule for the days my wife visits?
8. What if I'm single, can I have my girlfriend come over on the company-provided travel benefit?
9. I have children from a previous marriage, can I use the company-provided benefit to bring one of them over?

I don't think JL allows these kinds of personal choices under the new set of workrules...

1A. I'd bet that you'll be given a "living space" that will be yours for the whole time you're over there, regardless of whether you're on a trip or not.
2A. I suspect that you'll be given a "normal" type of hotel room. You might as well get used to eating cat, as I hear it's a big delicacy over there. However, not sure what you'll be eating in Hong Kong.
3A. Typical hotel rooms, with no kitchenettes, and no extra per diem. And what "extra money" do you expect. When we go on 14 day trips, we eat out all the time, with no "extra money."
4A. Do you really want a washer & dryer in your 200 sq. foot. room? Do what everyone else over there does, wash your clothes in the street. Again, I don't know what they do about clothes washing in China, except to say that you could probably get everything you own, cleaned and washed for $1.25, and a happy ending to boot.
5A. See 1A. above. Besides, why would you want to bring your wife over for a visit. Sort of like bringing a ham sandwich to a banquet, don't you think?
6A. Your wife will probably stay until you guys fight, just like at home.
7A. No, I wouldn't expect that you'll be given "time off" for marital visits, you don't get them when you're on a trip now do you?
8A. See 5A, second sentence.
9A. Yes, but only bring the good looking one, because I hear you can get a very good price for them on the black market, and besides that should reduce your child support payments. Again, don't know how they treat kids in China, but you'll certainly be able to ID them over there.
Well, there you have it, the definitive answers to your questions. Enjoy. (Humor off)
Seriously, no kidding, everyone will have circumstances that make them unique. Don't expect the company to address each individual need on this one. It's just going to be too difficult.

Need to see some sample lines to compare time away from home vs pay between a maddog 14 day trip and a STV O & B line. But do you want to guess which is better?

Pretty good answers, however, when you go on your 14 day trips you will get 3.75 to 1 trip rig. I consider that pretty good extra money.

Also talked with him about line construction and why the company has not shared samples of them with the crew force. He didn't understand their actions either, but said that the sample lines would be out prior to the STV bid. I guess they don't want to put the cart before the horse. He also said that during the meetings at the AOC, the vocal guys were the ones that either planned on bidding, or guys who thought they'd be "subjected" to the STV. He also said that after their issues were addressed, most of them said they were now at least fence-sitting, as opposed to an outright "NO", based on the responses to their questions. Interesting.
Hope this helps.

Yes but;
You get per diem and 3.75 to one trip rig while sitting in your hotel room on your 14 day trip. Remember how proud the Mec was of that trip rig? Well they just gave it away for part of the crew force.
You can't think of a reason why the STV lines aren't released for review before the vote? Your answer my change my opinion on the over 60 issue (up until now I thought the mental alert arguments were bogus).
JJ,
You are a smart guy, do you think STVs are a give back? If they are positive they will go senior why the inverse language?

As for your second paragraph: first of all, it wasn't I who said I could find no reason why the company wasn't releasing sample pairings. It was the union guy's statement, in agreement with my comment to him about the company not giving us sample lines to help us decide. I suggested to him that it was very short sighted of them. He agreed.
As for your statement "Your answer my change my opinion on the over 60 issue (up until now I thought the mental alert arguments were bogus)." Perhaps you could restate it with clarity, as in my diminished mental state, I really couldn't understand it.
