Anyone with experience or advice for the Air Inc fair (not sure if this is the correct thread to post so sorry for the hijack if it isn't)? Besides taking just a resume (per FD), is it a quick sell of yourself (maybe 5 minutes) or something more? Looking for some Inc Fair gouge

PUKE

P.S. Thanks a ton for the info FD!

Tanker - I used to go to the AirInc, OBAP and WAI seminars (both as a recruiter [not UPS] and as a job seeker). It's very straight forward; wait in line and when it's your turn you'll have about 5 minutes to answer a few simple questions about yourself and maybe your references (if you have any). If you need more time, no sweat - no one will tell you "your time is up." Btw. You'll get much more one-on-one time with the recruiters at the OBAP and the WAI seminars!

Some basic questions (applies to all airlines): Why us? When did you apply? Tell us about yourself. Why should we hire you over...?, etc. Be yourself, be friendly, and show enthusiasm - then just hope for the best. Good luck to you!

FD, thanks a lot for the time you took to answer our questions.

I put my application in two weeks ago, but my recommendation was sent in this week. Does that matter? When do they score your application, right when it comes in? Also, I understand that if I don't get called before January I should reapply, is that correct? Does my buddy at UPS also need to resend the recommendation? Maybe someone else has already found the answers to these questions.

sorry guys/gals,
I read through this thread a few times, but I may have missed it, what was the best answer regarding, 'on file' vs. 'active'?

I believe the short answer is "active" = good to go, you are in the pipeline for the computer to select you to get the assessment and interview. "On file" = SOL until next year.

The real $64K question is how does "the computer" label you active or on file? For many highly qualified folks out there that are on file there really doesn't seem to be a clear reason why...

I applied in the April window and my application has been "active" ever since. When they opened the most recent window, my application was never flushed out of the system (contrary to the consensus opinion that everybody would have to reapply). For those keeping score, I just got the online assessment email this past Tuesday 9/11. I don't know if that means they are still working thru the April applicants or not.

I had one for second officer "active" never flushed out of the system. I filled out a new application for first officer because I thought I had to and it says "onfile" LOL. Any ideas what that means?

Alright. I've read posts mentioning "no recommendations!" for UPS. I've read some indicating recommendations are needed for the interview portion. And then I've read some saying to get a rec as soon as possible. Which is it? I don't know a soul with the company... (which is ironic since I can't even count how many friends I have at FedEx.)

If you can get a rec, get a rec. If you can't, you can still get hired. From my understanding, the rec doesn't come into play until you are selected for an interview and then you get "one point" for it.
