Practice bid

USA Today and the Wall Street Journal said yesterday that after the G7 meeting the "US dollar is set to plumb new lows against the Euro." It's currently at $1.43 and will continue down. I won't be surprised to see $1.46 or higher. Add your banking fees and you are easily at $1.50. Look at the Canadian Dollar, it is currently more valuable than the US dollar. It wasn't that long ago that $1 US bought $1.50 Canadain. Our dollar has even lost over 10% to the Phillipeno Peso. Now that is bad!! Your $2700 stipend has already lost over $200 per month in exchange rate and we aren't even there yet! And don't forget the landlord will be raising the rent anually also. Don't you love flat rate compensation not tied to the local currency or with a COLA? The 32 percenters had 100% of the knowledge when they voted..........what did the 68% have?

Hey Lippy, ****?
No need for personal attacks bro.
Let me edit and rephrase my last paragraph.
We can beat the dead horse but it's not going to change anything. There, that should be better.
Now if I can find a way to pay for those prom dresses...

They had the knowledge that the company could have and would have opened these FDAs anyway without an LOA. The further knowledge that 100% of the CAP slots would have been filled and some if not most FO slots would have been filled. (the Practice bid seems to prove this fact)
68% = Won't affect me or Didn't read the deal.
I don't think the people still "complaining" about the outcome are as upset about the outcome as they are about the snow job our union blew us and the apparent apathy of the pilot group.
IMHO, We have a lot of maturing to do as a unionized pilot group. We can't be making future deals that only the junior member wants to fill. Every deal we make should encourage the senior pilots to move towards it e.g. aircraft pay rates, domicile openings etc. When that is happening, we know we struck a good deal. A rising tide floats all boats.

...take your pick...mix 'em up...and sprinkle in a couple of guys who are just plain wiser than the lunatic fringe!

A'o Aloha!

p.s. We will never know how the bid would have shaken out if the LOA was turned down, so let's not pretend like we do now based on the results of this bid.

Live in the now-
EI bidding it doesn't mean it isn't a bad LOA, just means that HKG fits his life better than MEM
and after hanging out at the ramp last night for an hour, makes me wonder if HKG or CDG will work better for me once the kids are gone.
as the prognosticators indicated, both went way JR and weren't completely filled. bottom guy at CDG is 7 from the bottom overall at FDX, certainly doesn't mean he won't do a good job there, but, almost certainly means if he sticks with it, will likely be so JR that he will be trapped at CDG for years until his seniority rises high enough to bid out of it.
and, that will be his decision. will certainly be interesting to see the final and see whether all of the JR folks stick with their standing bids.
Would also be nice if the company, decides to unilaterally improve the LOA prior to the bid closing in an effort to get more folks to bid, and more SR folks to bid Capt.
Don't think it's going to happen though
