Mother FedEx owns all of the 'vans and ATR's. At least they deleted the 26,000+lbs requirements. 'I have a dream.............'

The old 26,000 pound requirement was in regards to multi pistons only... not turbo props. It was to include Convair type guys but not smaller pistons. But now it seems those guys are SOL... B-1900/Metro/Jet Stream were always ok as far as PIC turbine was concerned.

I suppose I could have been more clear. A pilot recommendation is not required in order for an internal applicant to get an interview. Once he gets to the interview, he's on his own to stand or fall, and pilot recommendations certainly won't hurt. I know of many internal hires, and all had pilot recommendations, so I can't really testify that one can be hired without one.

An external hire requires pilot recommendations to even begin to work through the hoops for an interview. Internal applicants need only meet the published minimum qualifications, i.e., hours, etc. Internal applicants will need the recommendation of their current manager.

Thumbs up Good information

I'm also hoping to get hired by Fedex someday. I've got almost 800 hours of turbine PIC. I hope to have my ATP by the end of the year. I'm flying corporate, and I've found that it is hard to network when flying for a small two pilot operation out of a small airport. My biggest obstacle will be getting the recs. Thanks for the information. It sure helps us young ones develop a plan.
