Now that the word is out, they are trying to brain wash kids from flight schools to join their airline.

A quote from thier "e-movie":
"...For the career minded, we're living in the golden age of aviation, private, charter, airlines; they're all hiring..."
I don't think they are completely honest on that one.

Default Hiring Trends

It seems to me that the hiring trend at the regionals has been to avoid hiring experienced pilots. My guess is that young new hires with few hours will become an indentured servant for longer and will have fewer complaints. I wonder when the majors will pick up on this?

This is simply a bridge program. All of you do not act suprised. American Eagle used to do the same thing.

Default I agree..

But Eagle was and is a class outfit, for the most part... They were never put to the test with a whipsaw like blojets and they have long kept their integrity... Granted, they got ****ed with the whole Amer Connection crap, but they were all class acts... These guys at blojets are nothing like that and are very vocal about how happry they are about TSA furloughs and displacements... Not all the blame on blojets, but enough that they knew they were getting into a whipsaw airline and youth has no excuse... A little investigating and an open mind for any prospective pilot there should show them that it is a low life outfit that was set up to break a contract and a union and take flying from a bunch of pilots who worked hard to get it in the first place.. And they never voted down the flying.. They voted down the stipulations and language that was presented to them in the LOA... So their pursuit of the flying is a seperate issue.. Sorry.. get worked up.... I was a former 'Skier and my neighbors kid comes by for a beer every other day and rages about the crap... So...DO NOT GO TO BLOJETS!!!!!!!!!!

Default The way to STOP this crap!

ALPA needs to start sending reps to the flight schools (UND, E-R, Purdue, etc...) and start educating students about to enter the work force about companies and unions, etc. When I graduated, I had no idea what airlines were good, and which ones to stay away from. Heck, I based the ones I looked at on what bases they had, and who you had pass travel rights on. These airlines (GoJets, Mesa, etc) will keep getting young pilots with SJS indefinitely, until the word gets to the younger levels, the flight instructors, 135 jockeys, all the way down to the student pilots what the regional airline world is really like!

This happened to me, luckily a Skywest friend called a day after I accepted an interview slot. Told me to read ALPA's website and to do the research before going. Only had to read ALPA's letter, called them back and declined the offer.

I talked to an ealge guy that had a different opinion.

basically eagles subsidiaries, Command Airways, Avair, Simmons Airlines, Wings West Airlines, Metro airlines and Chaparral Airlines were played off against each other until final consolidation.

What's happening to TSA now is small potatoes to what happened at eagle on a regular basis.

During Mesa's freedom debacle, Mesa was offering new-hire freedom slots to people from their PFT program (MAPD). ALPA made several visits to the MAPD campus to set the straight and the majority did not accept freedom, despite having no other prospects in the industry. I think big Duane himself may have gone down there.
