As for mgt if they're fattening their pockets b/c they can then thats not right either. I'd be curious to see the $ amount that was given mgt vs the $ amt to give the pilots a raise. ?
Lets see, about 6 months ago the BOD awarded the top 20 officers 350 million in bonuses................That would have just about funded the improvements we were asking for!
Does that paint a clear picture for you!

And I say 10 years if someone began growing a new company today. Richard Branson and company are starting Virgin America with a few hundred million. You would need 10 billion to start up a global package deliver company.
Which leads me to another point. If Polar/Atlas or Gemini tripled their fleets and continued to buy large aircraft they could probably make tons of money as subcontractors to the big 3. That is why scope is so crucial in these next contracts. We are blessed with the most stable jobs in the industry. The only thing in common we have with out pax airline brethren is that we fly airplanes. UPS/FedEx are in no way comparable to the legacy airlines!!

I'm not an economist or anything, but have any inroads been made on the African continent? Does the Big 3 have a route and package delivery system there?

I did some work in Sierra Leone, and there's no economy there. The are cannibals there but I don't think anyone wants to overnight a cannibal except to their in-laws . Wars between landowners, gov't, and squatters are pretty serious. Coup d'etats are a normal. I think the only real commerce would come out of South Africa.
Also for the guy who said we'd be out of business soon due to low cost start-ups and scanned documents. People can now send low cost packages, it's called the post office. I would rather pay a little more, make sure that the package gets there in one piece. Fortunately for us, we now also carry the postal priority and express letters, which is big business. Dangerous Goods are another big money maker that you can't cut corners. When you look at the planes being loaded you'll see a lot of big containers, none envelopes but packages. It's hard to scan/fax/e-mail that item you bought on e-bay. As more documents are being sent electronically, there are also more and more online purchases everyday. (Notice UPS got the e-bay Canada.) Look at the FedEx (and I assume UPS) hub during the sort. There's a lot more packages than letters. Yeah things can always go south for any company, (that's why I have a backup plan/degree) but I think we do have some good leadership that will keep on top of the changing market.

If you would have read my previous post about picketing on Wallstreet when it was cold outside.....You would understand............................
Plus the Company buy's our hats/emblem............... so if 4700 pilots asks starts wearing hats.................it sends a small $$ message of Solidarity

I was sorry to see that the parade of hats did not make front page news on the Wall Street Journal.
Guys, it ain't the "hats" that creates solidarity, it's pilot group.
I really don't think anyone gives a rats ass about the hats Chicks don't dig them anymore anyway. Also, they are a pain in the ass to pack when dead heading in plain clothes.

Weknow the hats don't mean a thing by themselves, its a symbol to use to get the companies attention. think about it. Our management know Pilots hate the hats, all they got to do is look and see the lack of them worn in the crew room. Now if all of a sudden lots of pilots were wearing their hats and knew it was being done to make a point about the frustrations about negotiations, it would be a powerful message.
