Skatergeek, Phil Donohue (sp?) heads up our HR program. I spoke with him late last year about the process we use. Here's basically what he said, "It's now a point system and 5 points is max anyone can get. A lot of applicants have four points, you know, missing one thing or another. The apps with 5 points have our minimum flight qualifications, LORs, a college degree, PIC time and jet experience. Those with all five points equal about 400+. The computer will then randomly select applicants for us to interview." So I asked if it helps to have more LORs and he said nope. One LOR equals one point and that's all you can get in that category. Hope this helps.

So, I think it was mentioned earlier on this thread, but the Dulles AirInc job fair shows UPS attending (Sharnika Chandler).
However, the application window is still closed correct?
Just trying to understand why UPS will go to the job fair and not open up the application...
Thanks.

Also, remember it’s still mainly a computer program that select who will get the call (based on a point system). I’d say the job fair helps more with the actual interview than with getting an interview.
In other words if you think you’d rank pretty high in the application database (once it opens) I’d say a job fair would be a great way of saying hi to the person who’ll probably interview you further down the road. When I interviewed all three people had met me at different job fairs (yeah, I’m almost embarrassed to admit how many of these I’d attended… ). I definitely think it helped to break the ice.

Don't count on it...The last AirInc seminar they went to they were just there to tell people window's closed and they don't take resumes at the this time but thanks for paying 300 bucks to be here.

What a difference a year makes.
Ultra high oil prices + a slowdown in the economy + age 65 legislation sure changed the pilot hiring a whole lot. I’m sure it applies to other professions too.
Here’s a list of the airlines attending the September 2007 Washington, DC AirInc seminar (in black).
In red you’ll see the airlines that are planning on attending this year’s AirInc seminar (August 2008).
Note - I made a note if an airline attending this year wasn’t represented in 2007.
Basically 'black' = 2007, 'red' = 2008.
