Lekites was talking about them as DC8 replacements for the 8's coming out of storage, so here would have to be. After the new ones are here and the 8's aren't, we would again be short planes. They are talking to airbus about AA's fleet as conversions, and Boeing about more used conversions, but the 787 mess has that pipeline slowed down

Which Boeings for conversions was he referring to? 747s? 767s? 777s?

Aren't the A300s a different version than the ones we bought? Besides being pax birds. Interesting, the A300 is our only pure fleet right now.

According to airfleets.net American Airlines Fleet of A300 (Active) - Airfleets

767's. According to him, no 777's and a total of 19 747-400's through 2019 or so.

Besides an obvious gender confusion based on your photo, what aren't you getting?

I've heard stories about how the only way you can get hired at UPS is to have about three letters of rec from actual UPS pilots...is that true? Also, what are competitive times for UPS?

I don't think that is true, but it couldn't hurt. You are selected for an interview by a random process, after that recommendations help

I was hired last year and I did not have a single letter of rec. As a matter of fact, the majority of guys in my class didn't have a rec. either. Some did, but most did not. FWIW

Yeah, the medium and heavy lift deficit is troublesome. The popular number of -400's bantered around before the current economic collapse <tic> was around 40. Then I heard no more after the 13 or so confirmed until the sun does indeed rise in the east and now 19. It would be nice to see an additional 30+ 767's in the short/mid-term (beyond those already announced) as well as another 15-20+ heavy lifters. The lack of short term additional -400's may give some credence to the Transmile MD rumor which seems to have gone into recession. Or maybe DHL will be handling all of our international lift from now on.
