BINGO! Would you let your family ride on an airplane in lousy weather from CDG to EWR, whose captain had as much training as our negotiators get? No way. So why do we keep throwing amateurs, however intelligent and knowledgeable about the contract, against very well paid professional negotiators?

I do agree with Busboy though, that it takes more than just a good negotiator, it takes the crew force backing up the negotiator. But no matter how much support an amateur gets, he's still an amateur.

I've been saying this for years. I've brought it up at hub meetings and LEC meetings. DW keeps telling me (and us) that we have the best "professional" negotiators available in our Fedex union lawyers. I personally don't think he's even the slightest bit right. And I agree with Busboy. We won't be able to accomplish anything unless we have the TOTAL backing of the crew-force. However, I think it's time for thinking out of the box and trying new strategies.

If DW says we have the best professional negotiators he has to be full of caca. Geez, look at the negotiated FDA LOA. It sucks, and he said it would go senior, among other things.

Just an update . Fred did NOT resign, he was FIRED by Webb because he was becoming to assertive with the company and Dave didn't like it. Now we are in limbo again. Webb want's someone on that committee to be warm and fuzzy and not make waves. Whatever the company wants the company gets. Screw the crewforce. Webb was also behind the age 65 deal. He didn't care what you all wanted, it was what HE wanted. I think it's time for DW to get out of the union business and let someone do the job the way it's supposed to be done.
And don't ask me how I know about Eissler, I just know! DW has to go.

I think Fred worked for the MEC, not the other way around. Fred is inclined to be assertive. It has not always worked out for others around him.

BTW, how did you come up with that screen name?

You mean the 13-zip MEC? The one that NEVER votes against Der Fuhrer? BTW, assertive is a good thing for the NC chairman me thinks.

I assume your talking about Fred S. Far too many Freds around! I would say Fred S. is far more democratic than DW and Fred S. isn't at all.

Talked with an MEC rep who said that, "Fred resigned for personal reasons, he was not fired". He also said the MEC would not be putting anything out; that if Fred wanted to explain his reasons for resigning, that that was up to him!
What is the real story? If anyone is talking to Fred, could you ask him to put out his version of what happened. Time for some unvarnished truth rather than the politically correct drivel that is the MEC's SOP.
