I've been waiting 5 months as a MEM guy to go to school and am the 1st one to go in Sept. May 21 was the cutoff date for non-nugget md11 training and all the ANC guys are still waiting, thus not eligible for passover yet. I'll be really interested in knowing how your SO friend is getting passover pay.

By the way, this whole nugget process blows.
due to the loa listed earlier in this post you will start getting passover pay as soon as the person junior to you checks out in your domicile. If you're not anc you won't get it based on the purple(golden) nuggets. From your statement above you are MEM based.

Thanks for pointing out the LOA. Nothing like getting penalized for bidding MEM over ANC. The system screwed us pretty badly as the entire group of us have to live on 2nd yr SO pay until the end of the year while guys who started in May of this year get passover pay because all they could hold was ANC. What a crock of crap.

And like I said in a prior post somewhere, if any contract bonus/retro is reached based upon seat position (similar to UPS) before this group activates as FO's, well, anybody know a good lawyer?

Like I said before, this whole nugget process blows.

Hey the nugget program doesn't blow..................It is just seniority working it's way out. You could have bid ANC if you wanted to but you probably didn't want to commute up there for QOL reasons..............I could have been CAPT up there almost 3 years before I held it in MEM. I didn't bid it because I didn't want to commute up there for similiar QOL issues...........This allowed someone more Junior to me to hold it................

Why can a pilot with a Seniority of 3600 hold CAPT on the 727??..........................because lots of more Senior Pilots bypass it because of QOL over $$$................

Now if the PAY system was broken out by Aircraft..........and the MD-11 seat paid ( for arguments sake) $15-20 dollars more per hour than the DC10 or A300............You probably wouldn't be able to hold it at all.....................

Seniority is seniority........

Oh Wise zman,

Passover pay has only applied to same domicle, same seat since the contract started. (Maybe LAX included with MEM but not sure) And then if you were awarded passover pay it was paid to YOU within 30 days of YOU checking out in your awarded crew position.

The LOA allows passover pay to be paid as soon as the junior guy in your seat and domicle checks out. Therefore, you do not have to wait for your check out before recieving passover pay.

Know the current contract before you spout about LOA's. It might help you make a more informed decision when we get a TA also....

Well, MEM is a lot senior to ANC, so sure, your training will be later than a similarly junior ANC pilot. When I bid DC10 FO years ago, I couldn't get upset when classmates going to ANC got trained and paid Wide-body FO pay sooner then me.

...and in another little ironic twist, a buddy of mine who COULD NOT hold a MEM MD-11 slot got a -10 slot instead. He'll be on the line making WB pay by the end of year 1. Guys just a few numbers senior to him who "got" the MD won't be in class for another year and will still be plumbing.

Yeah...he'll have to go to training again (maybe) in a few years. But he's flying a widebody this fall...

Two fixes.... First--have frequent, small bids.... Line pilots love it, training and mgt hate it--they want stability and ability to long range forecast. Second, bid what you want to fly WHERE you want to fly.

Not to sound condescending, but when we are fussing about whether or not we get a widebody at year 1, 1.5, or 2 then we have some good problems to fight about.

Wow....man are you getting screwed....maybe you should quit! I'm sure it would be really tough for them to replace you....

Dude you need to relax! Many guys spent 5 yrs on the panel. Some spent 2yrs in a pool prior to getting hired....your whining will get little sympathy!

Exclamation Passover Pay for ANc Guys Passed over by Nuggets

It is true...

The company started paying passover pay to pilots who bid ANC on bid 0503 or bid 0602 and have not gone to training.

The first "nugget" activated on Aug 24 and all affected pilots got an email and notification saying that they are receiving passover pay "for all trips flown in Aug bid month from the 24th on AND for everything starting with the Sept bid month."

The email stated that it should be reflected on the Sep 15th pay statement.

They also explained that an LOA changed the contract provision that passover pay was to be paid after the individual activated in the seat. The LOA changed it to "as soon as the junior guy activates".

I flew with one of the MD-11 MEM guys that got training delayed and didn't get passover. This guy had a training date in Jun, got told in May that he was going to train in October with no passover pay. Total bone job if you ask me. Now it appears his retro (or whatever you call it) pay will be based on SO pay. Looks like a total 20k hit from lower wages and bonus.

So Albie, you think 20k is a small thing? It will take about 3 years in raises just to make up for it.

You dudes need to contact the union and have them grieve this for you.....
