Default UPS Flight Time Conversion

Slice,

I've been racking my brain trying to remember if I added a conversion to my hours when I applied to UPS (I flew Hogs in the AF and started at UPS a little over a year ago). I'm 90% certain there is no additive to your hours for fighter guys. The good news is all your hours will be PIC, which is the magic category as far as they're concerned.

If you want to submit a resume online it can be somewhat confusing. Go to upsjobs.com and don't bother doing a job search for pilot or flight crew. You won't get any results, which might lead you to believe they aren't accepting apps for pilots. They are accepting apps. Just click on the 'submit resume' link and in one of the fields it will have an entry line for flight hours and PIC hours for pilot applicants. The rest of it is standard education and work history stuff.

The next priority is to talk to any and all buds you have currently flying at UPS and get them fill out the gruesome pilot referral form on your behalf. Two or three of those are absolutely essential. The company purposely made the referral a total pain in the ass in order to cut down on the volume. I guess they figure no one would go to the trouble of filling one out if the guy they're recommending wasn't a really good dude. That being the case, I would suggest having someone send you the list of questions on the referral and writing it for them to cut and paste into the online pilot referral form. Otherwise you'll be spending the next 6 months getting people who actually like you to complete the referrals without getting completely under their skin.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything for a while because they've pretty much cut the hiring down to a trickle pending resolution of our contract. Lots of guys in the pool getting frustrated from what I understand. But when they start hiring again it'll happen with no notice and you'll want all your ducks in a row. Good luck!

Default Referral/Recommendation on Line

Slice,

I had this done by a buddy of mine, which flew Vipers in Desert Storm. He's been with UPS for about 11+ years, and he said that the referral form is like recommending someone for the "Medal of Honor". It seems that UPS is looking to get as many details as possible.
I used to work for UPS when I was in college (which I wrote in my resume) and I haven't heard anything from them. I applyed back in the fall.

Slice if you have any questions, give me a call.

The interview paperwork in 2005 asked for a resume with unconverted military time.

Here is a good discussion:

Good luck!
