The beatings will continue, until morale inproves ...

Too bad they didn't see that in 2007 when they hired 300 spartans; unless it benefited them in some way then...
For a lot of 2007 and 2008 they had a relatively cheap probationary workforce. It certainly benefited them. In spite of our voluntary efforts through the MOU, they felt the divorce (furlough) would be cheaper.
And so far, it is working ... unfortunately for the bottom 400 !

Age 65 was passed in Dec 07. The last class hired was Nov 07. I don't think many people saw the law changing that quickly. Due to F/E's, it hurt UPS (and Fedex) more than other majors, as far as being overmanned.

At least now there isn't anyplace for a 66 year old to hide waiting for age 70 legislation to pass.

NOT starting an age war, and DON'T shoot the poster- but, why wouldn't a DOMESTIC/FAR age 67 push come along from the same groups that ran age 65 lobbying?
ICAO agruments may not be a player next time, but the economic and entitlement ages for bennies in the US lead me to pessimism.
"They" only have to dust off a two year old rolodex and update the playbook.
Wouldn't seem to make sense to strike out before the part 121 work rules are legislated. I predict you see the push begin the day after these work rules are finalized.

I believe they can "only" build the lines to 89 hrs. A crew member can PO to 96hrs.

I see it all of the time. Mostly when outside of ANC on a jumpseat to nowhere ...
Recent questions/comments include :
Are you on the Airbus ? (after noticing the "300" tag on one of my bags)
We don't have guys on furlough yet, the MOU stopped that.
COMPLETELY out of touch.
As opposed to the crews that I have recently worked with in ANC. Junior and senior alike seem to get most of the big picture up there. In other places there are too many running around with blinders on. Negotiations in 2012 will be their first clue, pretty sad really. But typical behavior.

IPA news (print and electronic) does alot and daily puts info out on the furloughs. The excuse is that they never go online blah, blah, blah.
We will always have the hungry and the clueless. Fortunately, a minority of the IPA.
Suffice to say, the schedules as designed are nothing new (old tactic and as pointed out, our own IPA ratified contract permits the stuffed lines) and create a host of follow on problems for UPS that they seemingly fail to grasp corporately. In the end, the lack of vision and leadership comes home to roost.
So much so, that we witness little examples of UPS stress. The FQS' is the GOC got kicked to fly the line. Says alot about the impact of the beatings.
IMO, the metric of topped out lines creates it's own challenges for UPS.
Gives little capabilty to adjust to stresses in the system.
Result: Missed service and failed business opportunities with existing customers. Not so smart, but means that the IPA is responding well to the beatings, and thats a good statement of the resolve even with our clueless ones.

I don't find that restriction. The 96 hours for the crewmember can be exceded with vacation and training , makes almost a non restriction. if its 89 hours they still have a twenty percent more untilization out of every pilot still on the property. They maintain that we have 300 to many now, if we end up at 2500 and they use that twenty percent we could end up at 2k. Grim.

Joint Venture Positions UPS for Growth in Middle East, Turkey and Central Asia - UPS Pressroom
This contractor handles Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, Yemen.
You should file a greivance regarding subbing out all the work to those countries
You always seem to post flame bait or mis-information. This was a UPS Contractor/ Agent in Turkey and not UPS Corporate. For your information UPS has been a union company long before you were born and long after your gone.
Why not look at your Red X counterparts. You complain about UPS but look how many union jobs UPS has created since 1907? Its ok for Red X to have a mostly non union workforce except for the pilots and the pilots group doesn't care right? Maybe if there was more of a level playing field between the companies there wouldn't be a furlough. Funny how Red X drivers make far less than UPS since they are all non union but thats ok UPS managers and corporate are the "evil doers" right?
You really do not understand corporate rhetoric or union sabre rattleing do you. Your just a pawn in the game my friend.

That being said. You have to be management!
