4) Put the rest of the newhires in 2011 into the SO seat.

The kicker is the 727 bidpack is going to get smaller in 2011. SO will be more of a revolving door than in the recent past.
Does it appear that HKG will be out of the question for the possible newhires in 2011?

All I've heard about is possible newhires to 757 FO. That is a strong possibiity.

If they have a bid that generates openings in HKG before you arrive we may see one or two offers per newhire class until it gets filled. On a strictly volunteer basis of course.

Actually, I would guess that some poolies (or new hires in 2011) will be sent to China if the seats are still open.

My understanding is that the internals were always told they have an option if it ever came to that. If none of them go and they want to fill seats....it's not beyond the scope of possibility that poolies or new hires would go straight to HKG.

There are too many variables to know....if the internals letters are true (starting in January) we only have about 55 days to wait.

Can someone clarify the domicile situation for me? I see MEM, LAX, ANC, and HKG on APC there, but I've heard about other bases. Like is Guangzhou a pilot domicile? Also, ideally for me, I would like to be based in Oakland. Can pilots just pick up trips from there? Do you have to be based in LAX to do so? Can someone order the bases by seniority? And finally, which aircraft are flown out of each base? Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread. But if it's easy for someone, it would be awesome to throw that info out there. Thanks!

Domiciles you listed are correct.
LAX and ANC are MD-11 bases. HKG is A300. MEM has everything (727, 757, A300, MD-11, 777).

For the -11, LAX is senior, then MEM, ANC is junior. You can only pickup trips in the domicile you are based.

HKG is the most junior base in the system.
Hong Kong is where most guys live. Their trips begin with ground trans or a DH flight to Guangzhou and then they operate out of there for their pairing. Some pairings may start with a DH elsewhere just like happens at other domiciles. Occasionally they also have pairings that start at HKG.

Like, I wouldn't worry about it. Like, you're probably too young to get hired. Like, Oh My Gawwwwwd.

PurpleCRJ,

Please feel free to ask any questions you have about FedEx. The majority of us will try to answer them to the best of our ability.

I guess some of us were never young and just starting out.

Yes you can live in Oakland and pick up trips from there. In this case you would most likely be Mem based and would pick up trips that start with a Deadhead from Memphis to Oakland. Seniority is required to make this happen.

Great info here. I live in the SF Bay Area, and would love OAK too. Or even SFO or SJC. How much seniority would be needed to get trips out of those airports (being based in MEM of course)?
