Right now the 727 is the best airplane in and out of AFW. Who knows in two years. The general point to understand (accept for hotel Stby) our commutable trips start somewhere else and fly into base. For example Tul currently has 3 double dead head trips a week with 1 each to MEM (Bus) AFW (727) and IND (727). All 3 trips are MEM based crews. Some trips are hard to predict as the hotel STBY in Fort Worth is probably real senior in the 727 S/O and Capt Seat and 50% in the right seat. It all depends on who you are competing with.

I'm a DFW area Bus FO that has been with the company going on 9 years... I am no where near holding the 2 lines each month that are DFW flying. The MD-11 guys that hold DFW are a lot more junior though. The only time there is AFW flying other than a hub turn through there is during peak. You might get a deadhead into or out of AFW. Also, there are no flights that connect MEM with AFW - but there are lots of flights that connect DFW to MEM as well as IND. The point the guys are making above is 1st just get hired. We have a very flexible system that allows you to live anywhere. You may not hold the flying into and out of your city, but you will have a commutable schedule very early on.

Flying out of your hometown is like Sasquatch. Everybody's heard about it, but very few see it.

If you did get hired, by the time you get senior enough to think about this, the system form will have changed a half dozen times and nothing said today on aircraft/frequencies/deadheads etc will be valid.

If you do get hired, the safest bet is to assume that you'll be moving or commuting to Memphis for the foreseeable future.

My advice is to just suck it up for a few years till some seniority is accrued and commute.

Not to mention all the deadhead requirements the new proposed rest rules have in them. That could cause a lot of problems for the commuters/company? I just don't know which yet.

Stay senior on junior equipment and you will be MUCH happier in the long run. IMO
