FDX-Vacation Help
#1
Need some help with a vacation issue. I had a vacation for the last week of 2010 that carried into the first part of January. My January line had a trip that conflicted with that vacation period and I assumed (hoped) that the credit hours for that trip would be debited from my 2010 bank. When I looked this evening the hours were deducted from my 2011 bank. In Section 7 G.1 the contract says: A regular line holder shall be removed from a trip(s) in conflict with his vacation period (as awarded or slid) or vacation expansion. The key words to me are “vacation period”. Am I missing something that would explain why my 2011 bank was debited???

Do you think they are clearing the bank for the year as of 31 Dec? The trip in question starts in 2011, even though the vac period started in 2010.
Vacation Bank
Each pilot shall have a vacation credit hour bank established at the beginning of the
bid period commencing closest to January 1, each year, based upon the vacation
hours he has accrued (as provided in Section 7.B.). A pilot's vacation credit hour
bank shall be calculated by multiplying the number of vacation days by 6 CH. A
pilot's bank shall be adjusted for positive balances (as provided in Section 7.I.3.d.,
7.E.1.b.v., or 7.G.5.c.), or negative credit hour balances from the previous year's
vacation bank.
Clearing the Bank
A pilot who has a positive balance in his vacation bank after his last
vacation period of the year shall be paid for those credit hours, prior to the
end of the year, at his pay rate at the beginning of the bid period in which
the buy back is paid ...

I had the same thing happen to me last year:
http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ca...acation-q.html
At first it looked like it was going to come out of my 2010 bank (instead of 2009). I was pretty worried because I was trying to slide into Jan. and knock out a huge trip. If they were going to make me use the 2010 bank, I would have lost most of my 2009 bank even after buyback.
I emailed my ACP about it and it was fixed within 48 hours.
I am not sure if he really did anything or if it just shows up like that until someone actually "looks" at the banks.
Good luck!
PS. sorry if my URL link to last years post doesn't work... I am mostly a "lurker" on these boards and don't really know all the tricks
