Anyone notice the companies response to the FAA crew rest proposal says it would require 812 new pilots at FedEx. This coupled with a Hong Kong expansion, Europe FDA, 1000 eligible pilot retirements and a recovering economy; no wonder the company wants a quick CBA.

I just skimmed Fedex's response to NPRM. Boy, are they full of it! 90 sleep rooms and some lazyboys afford us all to get some great rest? The annual fatigue training is also helpful. I didn't see them mention that all fatigue calls would be investigated.
I hadn't seen their response. It is actually very funny!

The ensuing negotiations were comprehensive in what the new contract would contain and, equally important, not contain.
Consequently, it was also important to put into place a mechanism that allows the parties to continue meeting in the interim with the hope of narrowing the differences so that once bargaining resumes we can resolve all outstanding issues in an expedited manner. Unlike other properties where the parties retreat to their trenches after achieving a CBA, we have a written commitment that guarantees continued discussions between now and our next amendable date.
